Today's Flowers: Medical Planters and NC Botanical Garden

Photobucket

The first two shots are of flowers in the planters at the UNC Cancer Hospital which explains the medical planters being in my title.

Photobucket

The rest of the shots were taken on the same day (this Thursday) at the NC Botanical garden.

I did a very fast walk through while eating lunch at the botanical garden which is across the highway in Chapel Hill, NC from the road which takes me to my doctor's appointments at UNC.

Photobucket

As I've mentioned before on my blog, whenever possible I try to mix fun photo shoots with doctor's appointments to take the edge off.

Photobucket

The shot of the American Beautyberry bush below which focuses on the berries isn't flowers. But I think the berries are as pretty as flowers.

Photobucket

I'm not sure what the bud cluster below is. I suppose since it was growing through the Beautyberry bush it might go with that. Hard to tell since I took a macro shot making it look bigger. However, since that bush has tiny flower clusters, I'd be surprised if the buds look like this. Maybe someone knows.

Photobucket

This has only been a fraction of what's blooming at the NC Botanical garden but I think I'll leave it with one last shot.

These are lovely Carver! Your macros are super. I haven't noticed coleus in a long time and those varigated leaves look so lovely - I need to add some to my garden.
I think it's wonderful you could take such a beautiful walk so close nearby to relax.

Beautiful flowers, and I know what you mean, about doctor visits. Never leave home without the camera!

Your berries and buds are quite delightful; since I'm not used to seeing them, I find them more intriguing than the flowers.

Your photos are lovely, so many pretty and colorful flowers. IF you are asking what the second to last photo is, I am guessing honeysuckle.

I agree Nature does take the edge off anxiety when ever we have a bit for what ever reason. Glad to see that you took some time to stop and observe the flowers...gets the heartrate down for sure!

What a great idea to visit flowers on the same day you must see your doctor. Yes. the American beautyberry is every bit as pretty as a flower. I wish my bush would try harder and grow berries like that!

Hi Carver--gorgeous, as always!

About that cluster of buds that you couldn't identify: They look like honeysuckle to me, although my honeysuckle has already bloomed for the year and now has berries. Are these in the shade, maybe?

visited huntington again a few weeks ago. they have a huge herb garden there. it was the first time i stumbled on it. they had a table set up for people to talk to someone who works at the museum about the properties of the plants there.
