I decided to go ahead and post some of my zillion bird bath shots because I like to use nature notes as a nature diary of sorts.
This will probably be my last blog post until next week.
The weather continues to be hot and humid and I have very little energy.
Even inside with the air conditioning on I am dripping from the humidity.
When I think about what wildlife contend with outdoors all the time, I am sympathetic. All of the shots above are of cardinals. The next shot is a house finch.
The catbird below is in my front yard bird bath.
The next shot is of an adult male cardinal.
Below is a catbird in one of my deck bird baths.
The rest of the shots are of brown thrashers.
Lately it seems like all my posts are mostly about the birds I shoot through my windows.
They certainly provide me with a lot of amusement.
I don't see how people with out air conditioning or those working outside survive in the kind of heat we've been having.
I'd be whining a lot more if I didn't know how lucky I am. Click for the home of nature notes.

Try and stay cool, we finally got relief in the temps just when I went out and bought a window unit...go figure. Great series of them all trying to stay cool like the rest of us.
I tell my husband the same thing. Even with the A/C the humidity is a killer. I really understand, but I know you like to keep a nature journal too, but you can't be out in weather like that. Stay cool Carver and I always love seeing your bathing birds as you can't look at them without smiling...Michelle
Your birds are adorable. I was so happy that it wasn't intensively hot today - I actually enjoyed a walk to the bank.
I don't like going outside when the humidity and the temperature are sky high. Yuck.
My favorite of your shots, besides the first, is the first thrasher shot.
Like you I can't either stand humidity, but fortunately it's pretty cool here in Australia. We had some rain yesterday.
I like your bird photos!
Good morning! How are you today?
Hope you are fine.
Today it is my 25st weeding anniversary!-...I Praise the LORD...
His cancer seam to be gone...and he is here with me.
I praise the LORD for He is LOVE...and I'm so glad that I can't help spreading the news...
have a blessed day, dear!

I really love that first shot, how cute
the heat makes me ill so I empathize with you
hang in there
your photos are lovely...enjoy your blog break and stay cool as much as you can!
It has been so hot where you are that's it must be such a relief for the birds to bathe in that water.
Every time I come to your blog I think to myself - I HAVE to get a bird bath! Better than TV!
Carver, I love seeing your bird shots. You always seem to catch the great birds taking their baths. Thanks for sharing and posting your nature photos.
Your pictures are always beautiful, these birds are adorable!

Hi, again...
Just to say hello.
HELLO!
Okay, I said it.

(I love nature, as you know...)
I always like to see your photos of the birds in your yard. I particularly like that first photo, what a character that cardinal is!
I know what you mean. This heat is getting to me too. I remember when I got out of college and rented an apartment in Chapel Hill without air conditioning - now I wonder how I did survive! Your birds are lucky you give them a place to cool off and splash.
Miss your Photo Hunt entry, Carver. Hope things are okay -- and you're just feeling stale on account of the hot weather.
