Photohunters: Advertisement

The photohunter theme this week is advertisement. It's very common in my part of the world to see an advertisement on the side or back of a van. The first shot was taken of a van parked outside the office building where my dermatologist is located and the second was take of the side of a van parked in my neighborhood. I think both are pretty effective as an advertisement for their respective businesses.
The shot below is filled with advertisements. There is an advertisement for the Durham School of the arts on the left hand side (the school itself is further left but not shown). There is an advertisement for a business on the back of the white van on the right. The name on the side of the building on the right serves as an advertisement to advise that Durham County Social services are housed within the building.
If you click inside and enlarge the photo below it will be easier to see the sign which serves as an advertisement for the business and the artwork on the building further serves to advertise that garden and agricultural supplies are available within.A common form of advertisement is to have a recognizable logo. The big D with a bull jumping through it is the logo for the Durham Bulls baseball team. The shot below was taken Monday at the old ball field where part of the movie Bull Durham was shot. The team has a new baseball stadium a mile or so away where they currently have their games.
Bulls are popular in Durham. The bull below is in downtown Durham and I believe is an advertisement for a restaurant whose name is a nod towards the Durham bulls but I took the shot in passing and didn't stop to investigate. To visit other photohunters, please go to the home of the Photohunt.

Hello dear Carver!
I liked a lot this post! Very interesting indeed ! Sometimes I just don't see advertisements here because they are so many! And advertisement turns a kind of visual pollution and I guess my mind try to "ignore" ( or avoid ) them! ;-) Or you can say that I need glasses! LOL

I liked the advertisement in those vans!
Have a nice weekend

I really think we could do an entire theme around advertisements! Oh and I even forgot to put the snap up of the double bus!

These are great!!!!! :)

Nice collection of advertisements ...

I like those advertisements on the vans. A 'moving' advertisement is a great way to reach more people.

I haven't posted mine yet. I still have to find something appropriate in my archives. :)

We are bombarded with advertisement every single minute of our waking life, isn't it? It's going to be interesting to see what people chose to share and why.

There are examples everywhere you look, some effective, some just plain annoying.

I had to troll my archives this week since I left it too late but managed something.

Have a good weekend Carver

This is a great collection. The jacked-up motorcycle one cracks me up, and I love that mural on Stone Bros. The old ballpark looks pretty spiffy!

Thanks and have a nice weekend.

Wonderful take on the theme. I love the ads on the first van! We don´t have any ads like you show here. The only ads we see are in the newspapers, magazines and some TV-channels. This topic was very, very tricky for me!

I do wonder when I see animals used in ads, that bull reminds me of the bull statue in New York - more info here, I see tourists taking pictures standing under the bull's behind - not an unusual site here in New York!

Wow! So many great advertisement shots!I had to look hard for mine.

I like that one on the van, the first one! It's so artistically made!

I am fond of looking into advertisements. It stimulates my visual criticism and imagination.

I must ask my Kim whut it is that advertismints are. I wuld like to think that they are sumpin to eat, but I am gessing that they haff more to do wid pitchers and werds. And getting hoomans to spind monee. I wuld unnerstand more if I culd onlee reed. I am werking on that, but I have a kanine brayn and do gud just to try to spell.
Yew always take gud pitchers, Carvee! It is fun to see how yew interpurt the theems for yer huntings. My seester and I like huntings too, but they mostly haff to do wiff fud, treets and choowees. EmmaDog is taking an anteebiotik for an ab sess in her toof. (Must be frum awl of those teness bawls she stawlks and kills.) She is okay, but she looks lyke she has one of those bawls stuffed up in her cheek.
Poor EmmaDog!
Well, the thundrin is getting werse and I must hed to the sayftee of the baffroom and the flufee rug or else I am shere I will perrish in a puff of litenin and fur.
In spyte of being a chikin, I remayn

Lots of interesting ads where you are! This is the kind of post I wanted to do this week, but I had a sick child and we stayed home. But I found an old one I liked. Hope you will go visit.

Have you seen those trucks with the rotating billboards on the sides. Slats with three sides that rotate every so often to form a new ad? Now, those could cause an accident the first time you spot one... fascinating! My hunt is up here.

You had some great shots of ads this week. They really are all around us, aren't they?

I enjoy the "mobile ads" on vans and trucks, especially if they are well done.

I've posted two advertisements and hope you'll visit at:

Great collection... the full size ad on the first van is certainly eye catching and very well done. Sometimes, bigger is better ;-)

Great photos for the theme this week. Love the first one. That must have been a big project to paint. Fun post! We have a law against billboards here (which is nice). I am always amazed at all the advertisements everywhere when I visit the mainland.
