Photohunters: Triangle

This church we drove by in the West Virginia mountains had little triangles above the windows and the roof pitch formed a triangle. Also the little steeple was a three dimensional triangle.

The church at the Beckley exhibition mining town (below) had lots of triangles.

The superintendent house, below, at the Beckley mines also had a triangular roof pitch.

Wow... West Virginia! It seems such an exotic part of the world to me... and have to admit that my primary association with it is John Denver's "Country Road". :b

The second little church reminds me of the small country Methodist church my father's family attended... well.. they made up the bulk of the church. It served for over 100 years and had the most beautiful stained glass, even though it held barely 50 people at a time. When the termites finally had their way with the basement structures, my cousins reclaimed the glass and preserved the panes as art. One piece went to a nearby town.. the Methodist church there absorbed the little farm congregation... others went to those whose ancestors had donated them.

My lighthouse triangles are here.

Beautiful shots of the old churches and house. I just read a novel based in an old mining town so seeing these now was neat.
