Photohunters: Letters

When I hear the word letters, I think of handwritten letters which are sealed in an envelope and mailed.

Of course letters in the alphabet are what is used to make words and words are everywhere. The first shot shows one side of the sign at the Optimist Park which has the welcome greeting and brochures about various activities at the park as well as at other city parks with community centers. The second shot is the other side of the sign box and that has the greenway trail map which also has a list of all of the city parks and trails as well as other information.

The shot below is a close-up of the map where someone wrote in hand letters where the viewer is when looking at the map. I live within walking distance of the Optimist Park which has a playground for children, a tennis courts, ball fields, a community center with a basket ball court, and a covered-heated year round swimming pool. There are also trails that start at the Optimist Park and lead to Shelley Lake.

By the way, I'm not sure if there is any significance to the owls and squirrels on these maps and signs. I have a greenway trail map and mine doesn't have squirrels or owls on it. Click here for the home of Photohunters.

What a great take on the theme! I love the name of the park too, sounds like a place you'd want to visit, and go hiking. :)

Love your take on the theme. Nice photos and I like how you captured the park's reflection in the glass too. Have a great weekend.

Handwritten letters are almost non-existent now. I used to eagerly await their arrival...but now most of my friends send email.

Neat shots of the park signs!

I like receiving handwritten letters which I hardly get these days.

That's what I thought of too Carver. I envisioned a bundle of old letters tied with a ribbon.

But you made good choices.

Happy weekend to you.

Nice take on the theme. I hope that the pictures of squirrels and owls isn't too much the work of an Optimist!

Have a great weekend

What a great name for a park. Or maybe a bad one, depending on how challenging the trails.

Maps are endlessly fascinating to me, and where would we be without letters on them? How great for you to live so close to a wonderful park like that.

Oh, that must be pretty awesome to live in walking distance to the park, creek and the pool.
And an awesome idea to show these for the theme of the Meme :D!
