Weekend Snapshot: Number 37

I didn't go anywhere to speak of this weekend so I thought I'd feature objects from around the neighborhood.
I've noticed that the tree creatures have started to multiply. First there was one and before you know it they were all over the place.
They never fail to startle me although at this point there are so many I'm controlling my jumping impulse. The scene from Wizard of eyes where the trees start throwing apples at Dorothy is one I'll never forget.
Fortunately these aren't apple trees. However, if I was a child and had watched the Wizard of Oz, I'd probably be scared to swing on the tree swing with that face above for fear it would get mad at me.
The last tree sculpture looks very protective to me. I think he looks very wise and capable of scaring off intruders.

Those are neat pictures. I don't know why I don't see more of them here as we have a lot of cottonwood here and that wood is ideal for carving. I see the product in stores but never on the trees. Quite a few people harvest the bark and sell it online to carvers.

I love what you have here. Those tree creatures are whimsical and fun. Disney animation for the garden!

We have friends who are flamingo-addicts. Every shape and size in the garden, Carver. They are fun people whose friends have fun with them. Your pics have inspired me to get some of these faces for my trees.

The carvings on the tree are unique. Maybe it's starting to be a trend thus they're blooming everywhere :)

First off, I LOVE the hats on the bench on the top of your site! ;-)

I have always loved those faces for the trees! I need to find some for my trees at home!

The weathervane has always intrigued me as we don't have them here, well at least I haven't seen them so I find them fascinating pieces!
Now those trees are comical and I had to giggle when I saw those and I am not sure if I would want want in my yard, they are almost creepy but meh, to each their own, I suppose.
The last one is somethng I might consider as it looks more of an entire tree carving so perhaps that might be ok.
Great post, Carver, I had fun reading this one.

I like those tree sculptures. Interesting and it's like one's in a prairie house.

Good morning, Carver,
Those tree creatures remind me of Ents from Middle Earth - even that protector sculpture at the end reminds of Gandalf. You were capturing a bit of Middle Earth and didn't know it! LOL

Those are great pictures around your neighborhood. The flowers are beautiful.

the last one looks more like gandalf in the lord of the rings. in the movie he is called gandalf the grey here we can call him gandalf the wood.

Thanks for visiting my WS post. For those who wondered where you can get the tree faces http://www.onlinediscountmart.com/tree-faces.html
is one place but if you google with tree face there are a bunch of places.

Those are wonderful shots. I actually saw a "tree face" being sold at a handyman store at the mall. I didn't buy one though. I think it might scare my little boy.

those were a lot of fun. That frisky squirrel needs to find those trees. ;-)

Well, it does look like a lot of shoes but I don't think that I would want to line mine all up like that and see how many there are. Some of mine are VERY old. And there are some that I remember having years ago that I wish I had again.

Oops! How did I get that comment about your photohunt on your Weekend Snapshot? Sorry. I did look at both.
