Photohunt: Share any photo

The photohunt theme this week is wide open. We can share any photograph. I decided to pick a photograph that I had taken this week. Since this is mother's day weekend, I am posting photographs from my yellow rose bush. My mother died in 1990 when she was 65, and I always associate yellow roses with her because she loved them so much. For many years after my mom died, my yellow rose bush had its first rose of the season, on her birthday in June.
However, in recent years the bush switched over to having its first blooms around mother's day which is also very appropriate. Although my other roses were very early this year and have been blooming for many weeks, the bush I think of as my mother's roses, had its first roses this week. I took the second shot on Tuesday and the other two on Thursday.
I had intended to pick one shot for this week's theme, and decided to select which one of the roses I would have cut to take to my mom if she was still alive. Since I decided that I would have taken her all three, I am posting all three. Happy mother's day weekend!

Beautiful.
This is a coincidence...really. My mom loved yellow roses above all other flowers. She grew some climbing ones on the garage side of the house where I grew up. People would stop and ask her to cut one or two for them as they walked by on summer evenings and she was tending them.
When she passed away, much to my my bossy aunt's chagrin, I had spray of yellow roses placed on her casket. No ribbons or adornments, just yellow roses.
People asked to cut one or two as a remembrance.
It is the single lovely thought that my brother and I share of that time. We both thought Mama would have liked to share her roses once more.
Happy Mother's Day to your mom and to mine.
Love, K.

These are so beautiful, I think my favorite is the first picture, but what an incredible way to commemorate your Mum. All your pictures are so gorgeous, if you could hear the gasps as they load on my dial up internet here, you would think I am choking on my toast.:)

I am getting my Mum some red roses, a little out of season but they are still beautiful.

The melanoma awareness is something I follow closely, it can be such a sneaky little buggar (as you have made people aware)...I think Australia has the highest rate; I know our government is pouring more resources into the research and diagnosis and treatments.

that's such a nice way of remembering your mum. Red roses always remind me of my grandad, as he gave me a red rose bush when I moved into my first house, i was gutted to have to leave it there when I moved.

Lovely! My mom associates roses with her dad. He had lovely gardens that my grandma kept up for years after his death. My mom was only 28 when he died, I was born 19 days later.

A love tribute to your mom - and the timing of its blooms really seems appropriate. Great shots! My roses just have buds - no blooms. But my lilac is blooming deliciously - love the smell of that bush. I cut a few of its blooms the other day and put the vase on my bedstand - when I woke up during the night, I smelled it! Very pretty! Have a great week-end, Carver!
