Photohunters: Painted

I like the way some of the buildings are painted in downtown Raleigh, NC.

Briggs Hardware (the red building) below is one of my favorite buildings in downtown Raleigh.

The next two shots were taken in downtown Durham, NC

I love the building mural in the next shot.

The rest of the shots for the painted theme were taken in downtown Greensboro, NC.

When I started looking for shots for the painted theme I didn't expect that I'd be showing shots from the downtown area in three different NC cities.

I find it fun though how building colors and murals can brighten up downtown areas giving a nice break from the steel and glass skyscrapers.

That is a super selection Carver. I love them. So much more pleasing on the eye than concrete and steel

How wonderful! We missed both those cities/towns on our trip up the East coast - we won't make that mistake again -- theyi both look great (It is so hard to find unique towns these days!)

Lovely photo-essay, Carver. I like murals a lot -- and wish there were more of those than graffiti, especially of the "tagging" kind.

I like towns who are like this. Showcasing the buildings make the town more alive and people from neighboring towns would of course love to visit to see it. We have a neighboring town here they had this huge murals/graffiti and every time I passed that town I love to stop and just looked. Now they erase it and just a cement colored blank building wall. I call it boring wall!!! ^_^ Great post you have here. Thanks for sharing!

I am glad to see that in some places people still decorate their houses nicely :)

The building look so well kept. It's refreshing to see a downtown in such great shape.

Wonderful collection of brightly painted buildings. I much prefer seeing cities with painted murals, than drab cement. Great choice for this week, Carver. Happy Weekend.

I may be off the mark but some of these buildings bring to my mind something middle-eastern, although I've never been to that region... Very interesting captures!
God bless you!

The buildings look pretty compared to our white stark ones.
