Bridging the Gap: Day 3

This small footbridge is in the woodland part of the NC Museum of Art's Art Park. What I like about this bridge is its simplicity. It isn't screaming out, you are in an art park so the bridge is going to be functional art. Sometimes a bridge is just a bridge.
Then again, sometimes a bridge is not a bridge. Technically the structure above bridges a gap (gully). The question is: why does this structure bridge a gap? Are you supposed to show your dexterity by climbing up and over and jumping off the other end? I think not, so I'm left to ponder whether a bridge is a bridge when the exit is barred. I'll have to go back to the Art Park soon and refresh my memory about whether both ends are barred.

Alice is hosting this fun bridge challenge at I was Born2cree8.

We have a bridge in Bothell that no longer goes over anything and is barred but it's a historical structure so they are preserving it and they call it Wayne Curve Bridge. That is odd that that wooden bridge stops short. I like the small wooden foot bridge in the first photo.

I think you're supposed to jump over it like a superhero, or better yet, beam onto the bridge like Scotty just to admire the view. Maybe in spring or after a big storm, there's a stream in the gully that one can view . . .

I think you warped my mind with the "when is a bridge not a bridge" comment. It's going off in some weird directions that aren't quite making sense.

Or, else it could be that I got a great night's sleep last night and am just feeling a bit giddy and happy. I am also getting a massage today. Just feels like I'm going to get some good news.

The first bridge is functional and even a little artsy with its sides.
That second one is a mystery. If you go back I hope you'll let us know.
Looks like a nice place for a walk.

Carver, I too like the simplicity of the first bridge. It's strong and serviceable without competing with its surroundings. The second one is intriguing. It's so odd that anyone would go to the expense and effort to build a bridge then make it unusable. Both photos are great, very enjoyable.

Whoof!! Maybe the hoomans ran out of money before they finished building it so closed it off 'til they gets more money and wood and stuff.

Any one know who's bringing me doggy cookies?

Arf, arf, arf.

What a fun bridge that one with the end closed up. I think that one isn't a bridge...it might could be an elevator though. One never knows for sure.

Thanks for stopping by. And that bridge I posted is here in Arkansas.

Your bridge philosophy amuses me. I'd probably jump off, but I'm me. Or better yet just walk through the stupid gully ;-) I didn't know there was an art park. I knew about the giant letters by the ampitheatre but not the park. Is it new?

Two great pictures. I loved the first bridge and I marvel at the second. A bridge with no exit.

it looks a little strange a bridge which is not a bridge but the pictures are nice.

Thanks so much to everyone for visiting. I appreciated each of your comments. I go back and forth about answering questions here or on people's blogs to make sure they get the answer. If I'm not answering here it's because I've answered another way.
