Before long my hydrangea blossoms will be all blue.
They are getting more color every day.
I enjoy them the most at this stage because each blossom on the bush is different.
I think the one below looks like blueberries and cream.
I had trouble deciding which shots I liked the most so I'm using a bunch of different ones from my 2 hydrangea bushes.
I divided one bush a long time ago and transplanted its baby in another part of my yard.
They are parent and child but the child bush is almost as big as the parent one now.

The municipal building which houses city government where I live is not magical at all, and I tend to avoid having any of it included when I photograph more attractive buildings downtown.
I find morning light magical and I discovered these morning shots I photographed of cranes hovering above the municipal building (city hall). It almost seems like magic that the cranes don't get tangled up in the air.
I guess this was a reach but it was the only thing I could think of for city hall and definitely the only way I could imagine combining it with magical. Gattina's City Hall photohunt is here and Sandy's Magical Photohunt is here.
With all the rain we've had this spring, I could use a bush axe to blaze a trail through parts of my backyard.
The bird on the left in the shot below is a female cardinal but I'm not sure if the one on the right is also a female cardinal.
The next shot is still in my backyard but closer to the deck and there is at least a path to move around unless a blackberry vine bites me.
The rufous-sided towhee stayed very still in my mulberry tree while I snapped a bunch of shots.
My hydrangea bushes are budding out nicely and growing like crazy.
I spotted the first blossom on my blackberry vines for this season.
I finally got a shot of the carolina wren. I always hear them but they move so fast it can be hard to photograph them.
I've started getting a lot of shots of the bluebirds this season.
They are such beautiful birds.
I love to watch them flying around but like many of the birds, I have the most luck with bath photography.
I have a ton of Queen Anne's Lace which I enjoy.

I don't know what kind of insect that is on the next Queen Anne's Lace shot.
It's interesting to me how much gray I see in wet male cardinal feathers while they appear mostly red in the trees.
My butterfly weed is starting to get some color in its buds.
Next is another shot showing off the variety of feathers in a wet male cardinal.
He has the funniest look below.
It's nice seeing the rushing water at Lassiter Mill Park.
I love how green everything is which is the reward for rain part of most days lately.
I think the American Robin below is a contortionist.
Next he's drip drying.
Then I am getting the "don't mess with me" stare.
Lastly I'm being ignored because the bath is too much fun to bother with the annoying human.

The first three shots were taken this week at my neighborhood park.
The yarrow above surprised me because my yarrow isn't budding yet although the foliage is growing.
I think the yarrow at the park may be ahead of mine because it gets a bit more light. Normally though, yarrow doesn't bloom until summer.
The rest of the shots are from my yard.
My hydrangea is getting the first hint of color.
We've had so much rain that the flowers are bent in a variety of ways.
My Queen Anne's Lace above almost looks like an umbrella while the one below is spread out like a lace table cloth.
My coriopsis is starting to bloom which is very early for this flower.

Children love to scoop up water and sand.
For this photohunt I went back to my print photo boxes of 1980 and early 1990 shots.
The child in all of the shots is my daughter who was born in 1985 and is now 27 so obviously she's grown up a bit since these were taken.
The first shot is of my daughter and my father and that was the last beach trip when both of my parents were alive since my mom died in 1990. My father lived until 1998 so we had a number of other beach trips with him after that shot was taken.
The second shot is my daughter older than she is in most of these shots, but still a child. The third shot is of Bill and our daughter and the distant figures in the ocean are me and my sister. The shot above is my daughter on the left, one of my sisters in the middle and me on the right. Below is my daughter scooping water in the bath with a funnel and watching it fall out. Tip for new parents, funnels are great bath scoop toys because the water falls out in the tub rather than get thrown across the room.
