Today's Flowers: Camellias

Camellias set their buds in the winter and bloom in early spring.

Unfortunately, this year the back and forth weather has confused my neighbor's camellia and the buds started growing too fast during warmer days only to get burned by the hard freeze.

My white camellia is doing better since its buds haven't started growing too fast yet.

There were two beautiful mature pink camellia bushes on either side of our front door when we bought our home in Oregon (in 1971). And then the very next year we had a winter where it froze and then thawed several times and we lost them both. (And here all these zillions of years later and way after we sold the house I'm still sad about that!) So anyway, I hope that doesn't happen to your beautiful flowers.
