Nature Notes: More of the same

We are continuing to have a mix of spring like weather and then it gets chillier and then it gets warmer.

The cardinal couple above look like they may be beginning the courtship dance. The green above is misleading since that's an evergreen bush and it doesn't lose its leaves in winter.

The branch above shows what's happening with deciduous bushes beginning to show their first signs of new growth.

More and more american robins are coming to my deck for a drink of water.

The expression on the face of the one below made me laugh.

We've have had some beautiful blue skies which warm me as much as warmer weather.

While I'm writing this it's not particularly warm and I had to get the ice out of the bird baths.

I like the mix though because I'm certainly not in any hurry for hot weather.

I get nervous if it stays warm too early but it is nice to have some breaks in the cold.

I know the bird above was pleased to have a day warm enough to actually venture inside the bird bath.

I keep finding more and more signs of spring with ever passing day, even though I know winter is not yet totally through with us. Thunderstorms are in our forecast for later tonight and Thursday, a 90% chance. I suppose thunderstorms are also a sign of spring, though not one of my favorites.

I find hope in your post! If you are seeing so many signs of spring. it means we will see some soon too. :))

I'm hoping spring arrives in the upper Midwest some day! I haven't seen any signs, but it's early days for us. I discovered that my bird bath leaks. No clear hole or crack, but it drains very quickly.

It is so good to see your deck free of ice and birds happily bathing.

I fully understand your fear of the heat of summer, I think you have similar water retentions problems as I do and a limited fluid intake is not pleasant when your tongue feels like the Sahara and you like to drink a gallon at as sitting.

Keep you chin up, there still is a glorious spring to come and who knows, you may be blessed with a cooler summer.
