If you don't like the weather, wait a day

The central part of North Carolina, where I live, is one of those places where seasons often get mixed up. The photographs in this post cover seven days in no particular order. We went from frigid, cold weather to spring like weather in a matter of days.
Yesterday it was a pleasure to spot my first crocuses (first photo) but the problem is that flowers will start blooming too early and get zapped when winter returns. My daffodils are starting to emerge but will hopefully go slowly enough not to get zapped by the return of winter which is due in a few days. My neighbor's daffodils are already blooming and I fear will get frozen soon.
I know the birds are happy not to have to wait for me to give them fresh water. In general the warm weather is a blessing for the birds as long as they don't start nesting too early.I worry about the plants and birds when they get confused by spring time signals when winter is still going to be around for some time to come.
I am enjoying the mild days for now. Yesterday I started the slow clean up of my garden which I never did in the fall.
It is fun to get out and putter in my garden and watch the birds and flowers alike gearing up for the new season.
It's also nice to watch seasons unfold without the drought we dealt with for a year hanging over our head. We are pretty much caught up in terms of water.
I still love to see the clouds and their promise of rain. I hope I never take it for granted again. I'm definitely continuing with most of the water conservation I started during out 2007/2008 drought.

Mother Nature, we never know what she'll give us.
Hope all is well with you Carver :)

I'm not being able to view most pictures from blogs hosted with blogger today.
I'm able to view 2 pictures from this post though.
I hope this technical glitch will go away soon.

We had temps in the 50's and now they are in the 30's. I've heard a cardinal, chickadee and dove making their spring calls..I think we had this discussion on our bird list and the clue to nesting has to do with the length of the day more than temps.

What wild, unpredictable weather - I hope your spring-time friends don't get too exuberant yet so that they don't get zapped by a late frost.

My own daffodils are up - and my dad's dwarf irises were blooming last week.

In Texas we say if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute.
