Today's Flowers: frozen camellia buds

We had a light dusting of snow which sugar coated the camellia buds.

The snow isn't the problem as far as the viability of the buds.

The problem is that the buds got too far along and then we have had spells of very low temperatures.

In the picture above, at the top of the picture, there is a bud that has already turned black and died.

All those frozen buds are beautiful with their snowy covering. They did get a little too far along however which is too bad.
Happy Weekend!

UH OH! Mother Nature isn't playing fair, methinks.

I might already have told you how we lost a couple of beautiful camellia bushes at our Oregon home the second winter we lived in it. Late freeze, thaw, and then refreeze. Did them straight in. Sad because they were one one of the reasons we bought the house ;>)! (It did have other good points.)

Very pretty, but I guess those buds won't turn into flowers.

Beautiful shots Carver and there are still plenty of buds to cover the bushes in spring.
