It snowed over the weekend and I tried to capture it falling.
In some ways I find it easier to photograph falling snow at night than in the day time.
The premature narcissus was covered in snow.
The bluejay below was having a snack while the snow fell although you can barely see the snow in this shot.
The female cardinal below was all puffed out for warmth.
The next shot was taken at sunrise and the birds gathered in the tree.
The female cardinal arrived at my deck for breakfast.
The camellias look pretty to me in the snow even when they turn brown.
Berries in the snow always make me think of Christmas even though we only rarely have a white Christmas.
The bird in the next shot is a rufous-sided towhee and the sundial is waiting for the sun.
The male cardinal always stands out in his flamboyant feathers.
The female rufous-sided towhee is having a big breakfast.
A sparrow and a male rufous-sided towhee look pretty close for comfort.
Finally the male towhee has the space for himself.
The juncos always come to my deck when I put out food in cold weather.
Below is a sunrise shot I took.
My deck was covered in bird footprints.
After some sunny days most of the snow has melted.

You get such a variety of birds. Love your snow shots, but a bit sad for those spring flowers that are covered in snow.
The weather sure is strange, it's the same here. Love your birdies, the Junko is so cute!
lovely photos - the towhees are very handsome birds
Beautiful birds as always...it's a good thing they have that ability to puff up to stay warm on this kind of day.
I think the shot of your deck with all the bird footprints is really fun... points out how many of them there are and how much they love your yard (and how much they depend on you)..
Winter has been a mixture of warm and cold here too, but mostly cold the past few days. You've captured the season beautifully.
Your photos create a wonderful harmony between snow and colourful flowers and berries.! Besides you know a lot of birds and I learned again something new about them, thanks to you!
Hello Carver, I always enjoy your birds. And your first sky shot is gorgeous. I also love the berries peeking out of the blanket of snow. Great post, thanks for sharing!

Nice shots. We are supposed to get some snow today.
something very tender about the little bird footprints:-)
I like that you included the bird tracks as I look to see them everyday when I am out.. Glad to see them enjoying the bird buffet. Thank you for linking in and for the birthday wishes.. hugs.. Michelle
Oh I hope the snow didn't last too long or harm any plants...those bird footprints are too cute in the snow
