Weekends Snapshot and Nature Notes - Blue Skies at Last

For me the big news in terms of both nature notes and weekend snapshot has been that we finally had a sunny weekend, complete with a bright blue sky.
I'm glad we've had a wet spring and hopefully I'll never take rain for granted again after the drought I talked about at length on my blog. But I was oh so ready for a pretty weekend.
Now that we have the sun to work its magic after the rains, everything is coming to life. There are so many new plants, buds, and flowers that I could end up with a very long post if I tried to cover them.
The first two shots were taken at home. The shot above and below were taken during my Saturday walk on a nearby trail.
The main aspect of my natural world I'm featuring with this combo weekend snapshot and nature notes post is the blue sky. I haven't doctored any of these photos. What I saw is what you get. The shot below is from my Sunday walk at the NC Art Museum's park.To find other participants in one or both of these theme posts, please visit Nature Notes, and/or Weekend Snapshot.

I see so much blue and green! What a pleasure. And the tree blossoms are fabulous, too. (magnolias? cherries? great whites 'n pinks)

Oh, white dogwoods. I guessed wrong. The Japanese maple I could have predicted.

I remember learning last year that the cherries blossom before the dogwoods. In our area, the dogwoods aren't yet in blossom, but I think I saw a blossomed cherry tree yesterday.

Wonderful post and photos, Carver. I really never think about drought in your neck of the woods. We're so use to it here in CA, I think it's just us.

Great shots.

Your photos are always a delight to see. I can't decide which is my favorite, but that shot with a biker in it reminds me of something beautiful I saw many years ago. Have a nice week.
