When I saw that the photohunt theme was thirteen, I'll admit that I didn't have a clue what to do. At a loss, I decided to demonstrate that I could count to thirteen so for my first shot, I took a photo of thirteen shoes in my bathroom. 
Not wanting to leave you in the bathroom, I decided to put together one more photogroup for thirteen. Below are thirteen animals. After I put together the collage below, I realized that I had actually demonstrated that I couldn't count to thirteen because I spotted an extra bird in a branch above another. No problem. I put the red box over the extra bird and included the thirteen caption. The dogs in the photograph often bark out a request for me to take their picture when I walk by. When I stop and whip out my camera, they invariably stop barking and pose for me.

Thirteen was hard. There wer twelve yellow tulips in the bed by my door. Fifteen tomato sprouts jsut starting to get bigger for the garden. Ten of this, eleven of that. I succeeded, though, in a slightly different way, and you can see it at midnight Pacific Time, because it is, after all, a Saturday Photo Hunt. Of course, I love going out to see the early birds.

I wasn't sure what to do for this theme either and you tend to look a bit mad walking around counting to 13!

I had a tough time with this one.
This was kind of a hard one, especially since it should be easy because it is so wide open. There ought to be a lot of different types of pictures today! I like yours. When our family comes in and kicks off their shoes near the door, I could almost get 13 right then -- didn't think of it!

Great shots with a cool number...Being a former math teacher :) I kinda always just liked 13. It is prime, the sum of 2 consecutive integers and is of dubious charater.
Real reason though is the concept of the baker's dozen. As a kid, I loved it when my grandma would take me to the bakery and we would buy a dozen of something and get 13. Confounding to burgeoning math skills as it was, I loved having an extra one for free. Now I know the origin is the concept was that bakers would always added an extra in case one was burned or torn in order to have a perfect dozen.

Thanks for your comments on my PH post. For the record, each of the shoes does have a mate so isn't lonely. I won't tell you how many different groups of 13 shoes I could have shown. I love the quote from above Mrs. Jone's desk. I wish I'd thought of a baker's dozen. That would have been a great excuse to buy some of the baked goods at the Farmer's Market. Cheers everyone, Carver
