The photohunt theme this week is aftermath. Many of my neighbors view leaves as a negative aftermath of fall. They rake, blow and bag them. I on the other hand love leaves and think they are a wonderful gift of fall.
The bagged leaves above are my neighbor's leaves, all ready to be hauled out. The leaves below are mine, providing a nice winter's blanket. It's better when I chop the leaves and spread them, but I didn't have the energy this year; so for the most part I'm using them as is. In the spring I'll rake them away from the emerging bulbs and flowers and hopefully get around to chopping and re-spreading.
I'm tempted to pick up my neighbor's bagged leaves and add them to my compost heap as I can always use more leaves. The problem is most of the leaves my neighbor bagged blew over from my yard so they would probably get upset if they saw me doing that.To find other takes on the aftermath theme you can visit the home of Photohunt where participants post on Saturday.

Nice take on the theme. Composting is very good and very green.
NOw that is a vey interesting take on the theme...you've given me some ideas.....happy hunting and happy weekend to you..
I think the carpet of autumn leaves is wonderful, until you have to rake and bag them.
Good take on the theme Carver.
Happy weekend.
It sounded like you loved the leaves more than your neighbors... haha. Well, composting would be a great way of recycling mother nature's gift back to where they should belong.. earth. :)

Excellent take on the theme. I'm like you, I keep my leaves around for mulch. It's green and is so much easier than bagging them up!
Hope you have a nice weekend.
Wow! That is a lot of leaves!!! Great choice for the theme :)
My Photo hunt entry is here
Please stop by, and happy weekend :)
like most things in nature, leaves have their function. i like your way of thinking, and these are some nice photos :)
Gret take on this week's theme Carver. Leaf mould is a great mulch. Bagging it up as refuse is such a waste. Happy weekend
Great take for the theme this week!
Happy Weekend.
great idea on the composting thing. i really should come around to doing that one day. and you r right. best not to antagonize yr neighbour.
one day I was at the 2nd level of my hse looking down so I could see my neighbor gardening. whenever he saw a snail he would just threw it over the fence into my garden. instant solution to his problem hahhahahah
This is why I hate autumn lol!!! 'carpet of leaves'... Cool post for this week!!!! Hope you can visit my corner too... Have a great weekend!
I love the leaves but my husband doesn't like them 'cos he's the one raking them. : )
That's nice, good fertilizer!
Nice take.
Walking on those leaves gives out a nice feel as well :)
Happy Weekend my dear Carver! :)
I keep my leaves for the compost heap too. It's a waste to throw them away.
That's a great eco-friendly way to use leaves!
Hi there, It's been awhile since I've been with Photo Hunt, but I had to come and see your post! What a great one at that! I too love leaves of Fall...especially when as I child, my dad used to burn them in the street...I still can close my eyes and smell that incredible smell! My photo is up, please come and visit soon
I like fallen leaves though. Am not as practical as you -- rather, I like the sound they make as I walk through piles of them! :b
Laziness can bring all kinds benefits:)

I prefer your idea about the leaves. :)
I like the look of them. It's nature's way.

I only have pine trees in my yard. They came with the house and they are messy!!
Love your clever and ecologic take on the theme!! I wasn't inspired at all this time.
Happy weekend!
itll require a lot of time cleaning. happy happy hunting.
So much leaves!
Hmm,what creatures lurk in there, I don't want to know :)
Composting is a very nice idea, Carver :)
Nice aftermath - and the idea of your neighbours watching you speechlessly while you take their bags and spread out *your* leaves again is sort of hilarious! :))
Carver, thanks for your New Year's wishes, and sorry for not replying. Whenever I used the computer I spent a lot of time with my photos......
So... A happy New Year to your too, may it bring you health & happiness! :)
Lovely! If your neighbours like clearing leaves so much, maybe they could return them to you to save having to get them collected - it wouldn't be much extra effort for them to add them to your compost. A neighbourly act, in fact :)
Kicking leaves around is one of life's little pleasures!
The proper way to create good humus.
All those leaves, that's very diligent of you keeping them that way.
Nice job with the theme, Carver. My contribution is also related to Mother Nature. The photograph was taken on a vacation trip in 2006.
I love leaves in the fall. There is something about the crunch of leaves when you walk. I like your photos and your take on the theme.
If you have time my photo hunt is here:
Here's mine.
Cute!
That is a great photo hunt.
We do composting a lot back home. It is nature's way of reducing the waste itself...a useful waste at that! Happy weekend!
I also think it would be pretty funny watching your neighbors' faces as you dumped their leaves all over your yard! I really hate those blowers. The sign is horrific. Great choice for the theme this week!
they are nuisance sometimes because it would get the road slippery. but i never rake mine. hehehe.. with a hugh property like ours who would? lol. great one carver
We once lived in a house backing on to woods. I used to go in regularly and take home bags of leaves. They are a great aftermath of autumn!
I love autumn when the leaves change. I just wish they wouldn't fall off the trees, lol. Great choice for this theme.
Have a great weekend!
Happy Sunday!! Have a great week ahead!!
I'm with you... leave the leaves! And if the mower didn't pick them up in the spring, I'd probably still leave them ;-)
Wow that is alot of leaves.. Living in Southern California, we see some, but not to that degree!
those bags of leafs are great. they looked like giant mushrooms!
Composting is best...I hate to see all those bags...or worse burning them...
It's nice that you found a good way to make the most of the fallen leaves.
