The photohunt theme this week is aftermath. Many of my neighbors view leaves as a negative aftermath of fall. They rake, blow and bag them. I on the other hand love leaves and think they are a wonderful gift of fall.
The bagged leaves above are my neighbor's leaves, all ready to be hauled out. The leaves below are mine, providing a nice winter's blanket.
It's better when I chop the leaves and spread them, but I didn't have the energy this year; so for the most part I'm using them as is. In the spring I'll rake them away from the emerging bulbs and flowers and hopefully get around to chopping and re-spreading.
I'm tempted to pick up my neighbor's bagged leaves and add them to my compost heap as I can always use more leaves. The problem is most of the leaves my neighbor bagged blew over from my yard so they would probably get upset if they saw me doing that.

It sounded like you loved the leaves more than your neighbors... haha. Well, composting would be a great way of recycling mother nature's gift back to where they should belong.. earth. :)

Excellent take on the theme. I'm like you, I keep my leaves around for mulch. It's green and is so much easier than bagging them up!

one day I was at the 2nd level of my hse looking down so I could see my neighbor gardening. whenever he saw a snail he would just threw it over the fence into my garden. instant solution to his problem hahhahahah

Hi there, It's been awhile since I've been with Photo Hunt, but I had to come and see your post! What a great one at that! I too love leaves of Fall...especially when as I child, my dad used to burn them in the street...I still can close my eyes and smell that incredible smell! My photo is up, please come and visit soon
I like fallen leaves though. Am not as practical as you -- rather, I like the sound they make as I walk through piles of them! :b

I only have pine trees in my yard. They came with the house and they are messy!!

Lovely! If your neighbours like clearing leaves so much, maybe they could return them to you to save having to get them collected - it wouldn't be much extra effort for them to add them to your compost. A neighbourly act, in fact :)

We do composting a lot back home. It is nature's way of reducing the waste itself...a useful waste at that! Happy weekend!
I also think it would be pretty funny watching your neighbors' faces as you dumped their leaves all over your yard! I really hate those blowers. The sign is horrific. Great choice for the theme this week!
they are nuisance sometimes because it would get the road slippery. but i never rake mine. hehehe.. with a hugh property like ours who would? lol. great one carver
We once lived in a house backing on to woods. I used to go in regularly and take home bags of leaves. They are a great aftermath of autumn!
I love autumn when the leaves change. I just wish they wouldn't fall off the trees, lol. Great choice for this theme.

Wow that is alot of leaves.. Living in Southern California, we see some, but not to that degree!
those bags of leafs are great. they looked like giant mushrooms!
Composting is best...I hate to see all those bags...or worse burning them...
