I was hibernating at home this weekend. Didn't go anywhere or do anything so these shots were taken at home.Winter is a good time to photograph the birds here because they cluster in the trees watching me as if to say, food, water, please. I do try and melt the frozen bird baths although it was so cold Saturday it kept refreezing. For other WS participants, please visit the home of Weekend Snapshot.
Uh, yeah. I was out trying to get some shots of the release of a rehabilitated red tail hawk Saturday afternoon and it took a good 10 minutes back in the truck to get my fingers thawed enough to drive again! I can't figure out why your avian friends here think that hanging out in a tree exposed to the elements on a day like that is a good idea. Seems like a good day to find a hole in the world and crawl in together to conserve body heat!
Winter is a good time for these photos, but it is also a great time to hibernate. If I didn't have a pile of student papers to read I would go hibernate in my own den righ now!!
I know what you mean about hibernating! These are wonderful shots. I wish I could get the birds to sit for a photo in exchange for a little room service.
amazing snap shots here. some of those birds travel to as far as the philippines. in fact, the migratory areas here in the philippines are filled with birds today.

that is amazing that you got all those birds on one limb... I bet they were singing like crazy.
Have you tried a heated bird bath? Last winter killed one of mine, but they even kept up with the really cold temps....
oh beautiful sky!

I loved these shots. especially the birds and the puffy clouds in the last one. aloha-
Must be relaxing to hibernate with such a beautiful view from home...
i don't blame you for not going out if it was freezing cold :)
lovely shots nonetheless.
I love the crispness of the shots that winter time allows.
Hibrating is sounds like a good idea for cold mornings- however the weather is changing to spring like weather in ca.
