Last week my weekend snapshots were from a Saturday walk where I encountered a lot of bikes. This week, I am again featuring a Saturday walk but I decided to go on a dirt path, off the main paved one, which is only for foot traffic. It was a very pleasant walk. On the dirt part of the trail, I didn't see any other people.
I wouldn't have been a bit surprised if a woodland fairy had popped out of the hole in the tree.I kept spotting good places for mythical creatures to hide but I didn't see any. Maybe because they were hiding. When I was a kid, the log above would have been my bridge. For that matter I used to enjoy walking across logs in my 20s and 30s. Somewhere along the way I seem to have lost my nerve.
I love river rocks. There is something about a pile of rocks that makes me contented to stare at them for a long time.

Lovely walk. I am still visiting Photo Hunt (as I was at a horse show yesterday)...
I will have my weekend shot up in a few
i love river rocks, too, and the vicinity of water in general. but everything is frozen here at the moment, including my flat (or it certainly feels so)
Last time I walked on a log was at Fallon Park. The log broke and I fell into the creek. It was January. I don't do that so much anymore :-)
Looks like an enjoyable walk through the woods. Poor tree that's uprooted though :(
I love the idea of mythical figures hiding in those places in your pics . . . my guess is that they camouflaged themselves and were observing you as you passed by!! They blended into their surroundings so well that you couldn't spot them. I think you could sense them anyway, though, because I can kinda feel them just by looking at the pics!!
i can imagine how pleasant weekend walk it was....have a great day Carver :)
scenes like this reminds me of the movie the village.
i can walk there all day taking shots of logs, trees, stones!
Yes, what a nice walk--the way the river runs it smooths the rocks and tree roots either have to go very very deep or be so shallow that they can be easily uprooted like that one.
You have the most fascinating trails in your area! Love that tree with a hole...
thats a very nice trail Carver, if theres a place like that near here, i would probably take a walk every day. great shots too!
Carver,
I love walks like this one that show all the wonders of woodland plant life. Trees amaze me. I would have been looking for the fairies, too (though, no doubt, they would already have found me).
I enjoyed the walk. I looked for the fairy creatures and could almost see them.
Nice series....falling from that log would be bad news...and I was looking for a fairy but didn't see one...
the stump is intriguing. I wonder if any critters live in it.
free strawberries and animals to pet! wad a cool place.
This is my kind of favourite walk! Love bushland, water and rocks! Lovely shots!
Like the pictures of the river, it looks so peaceful. I love walks when we see no one it is so serene, and rejuviating.
Those are interesting shots. I like your imagination about mythical creatures.
