Outlook Improving

I want to thank everyone for your encouraging comments on my last post when I was feeling somewhat discouraged. I feel much better and more determined to keeping moving. There is so much variety outside this time of year that it literally calls me outdoors which is great. Even if I can't go very far or fast, mentally I believe it will help me to continue on with regular walks.
Yesterday I managed to go for a photo walk and stopped every time I felt like taking a picture, rather than planning on part of the walk being geared more towards exercise. When I'm tired, that's what I'm going to try to do.I am also going to look into easy classes, especially for the hot summer months. Something that recently dawned on me is this might be a good time for me to consider the Feldenkrais method. I took a Feldenkrais class about 20 years ago called awareness through movement at Arts Together where my daughter was taking pre-school creative dance. I remember that a lot of older women were in that class who were taking is specifically because they had physical problems.
When I found the link to the national Feldenkrais site, I discovered that there are several different people who have classes in my area. I remember at the time I took awareness through movement that it was a big turning point for me. I had dealt with severe endometriosis and a radical hysterectomy at the time and I found the class to be very helpful. In general I feel good about trying to keep moving towards that light at the end of the tunnel. I went to the tunnel I have tried to photograph in the past and took some more shots. I am going to keep going back there until I hit it when the lighting is perfect. The shots above were taken from both ends of the tunnel. Of course the optimal conditions for light at one end won't be optimal for the other end so I'm sure I'll need to try a lot of different times of day.

It's wonderful that you can see both ends of the tunnel, Carver. It shows optimism! Beautiful shots as always.
Never heard of the Feldenkrais method before, very interesting link. Enjoy your walk today!

I looked briefly at the Feldenkrais website...it looks very interesting in that there is lots of info on chronic pain. I hope you can find a class! I also think that you are right to listen to your body and stop when you feel it is too much. Lucky us that you have your camera handy when you slow down.
The key is to keep moving...forward is always good, but don't beat yourself up if you go the other way! It never lasts for long. I hope you will find just the right thing(s)that make you happy AND make you feel better, new stuff or old. Just don't become a slave to any of 'em...keep changing it up.
Hey, it is a hard realization, but that was then, this is now.
As for myself, I am kinda digging the 'now' 'cos it means I'm still here...(grin)
Love, K.

When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never tried before.

Another set of great shots - I like the one of the tunnel where the light seems to grow through each section of the tunnel. And, the variety of the trees blooming is gorgeous, too.

Jeanne has said in the past, "be gentle with yourself". I like that. I need to use it more often because I am used to doing more, so I know it's a hard adjustment to learn how to slow down. Glad you're looking into the Feldenkrais - someone just mentioned a form of movement called "Nia". We agreed it sounded a bit "foo foo", but it's goal is to empower women through movement.

Okay, got to go eat something. Have a great day today!

Carver, I've seen the previous shots of that tunnel and I've liked them all. But keep at it - you'll get a picture you really like. I've been out of touch for a while - no Internet access for about 4 days - Aargh! I'm glad you're feeling better. :D

Thanks Mar I appreciate that.

Hey Kim, I love your diggin the now because it means you're here, I will have to remember to do that. Mae West rocks, ha.

Thanks Dee, Jeanne's be gentle with yourself is a good one to remember. I found the Nia web site and they also have classes in my area (Nia instructor). I laughed at the "foo foo" since I use that expression a lot but the Nia method looked interesting.

Thanks Sabine, I appreciate that.

Thank Mary, I appreciate that and I hope your internet access will be back on track now.

Carver, I like the 3rd picture :)

As for the disappointment you've felt the past couple of days. Don't feel discouraged. Hope you're feeling much better and enjoying your exercise moments.

Glad you like the "You Cheer Me Up Award".

I would give that a whirl Carver. It can't do any harm. Lovely photos as usual.

I love your photos, all of them, but I especially love your tunnels. Tunnels are great for framing and giving perspective, in more than one sense.

Thanks A. I appreciate that. I am having fun with the tunnel.
