Weekend Snapshot: Number 28

Spring is definitely springing forth where I live. My first shot is 4 separate flower shots that I put together. I have a lot of different varieties of narcissus and daffodils which I enjoy. The rest of this post will take you on a neighborhood walk with me. The forsythia hedge below is in full bloom. I consider forsythia to be one of the pleasures of early spring. Several of my neighbors have forsythia hedges.
The next shot is of a house near where I live which has a pool behind the white fence. My city has been in such a bad drought that filling of pools drained for repair or of new pools is prohibited. I assume that applies to backyard pools drained in the winter. There is also a restriction against using public water for irrigation. We have recently had some rain which has helped, but certainly not enough to restore grassy lawns. Also, most of the lawns are still brown from the winter.I asked Bill how he thought the people have managed to maintain that green grass shown in the shot above. He said, they are probably watering with the old pool water. I'm never sure if Bill is teasing me or not. I still don't get how that type of grass is so lush at the end of the winter and I even touched it to make sure it wasn't fake.I like the landscaping the people who live in the house above have done. I watched their garden evolve during years of neighborhood walks. They have eliminated all of their grass (except for the monkey grass) in favor of drought resistant perennials.
The riot of color from these trees which are growing together, in a jumble across two yards, makes me laugh. Riotous color in nature is fun for me.
For the last shot I'm back at my house and I just missed getting a shot of a nuthatch on top of the St. Francis which I kept from my parent's house. After being afraid my energy would fail me, I have managed to walk between 2 and 3 miles a day (except yesterday which was close to 4 miles) for the past 6 days in a row (7 if I walk today). Some days I walked slowly and took lots of photographs but I have also had some pretty steady walks without stops. Woooohoooo !
