Nature Notes: Last 3 days of Ocotber and first 3 days of November

The end of October and beginning of November were warmer but it's beginning to cool down again considerably.

The female cardinal was keeping her eye on me but not leaving.

The squirrel was full after a meal of pecans from my tree.

We are moving into peak fall color in central NC.

After a stormy Friday there was partial clearing on Saturday.

The fall leaves make the sky bright even when it's overcast.

My yard is covered in more and more leaves.

The male cardinal was enjoying the bittersweet berries.
naturenotesDSCN4422
There are still a lot of American robins in my yard.

My oak trees are starting to get their fall leaves.

I can see the tree below from my deck but it's a neighbor's tree.

The rest of the shots are from a Sunday walk at Shelley Lake.
naturenotesDSCN4538
It was a beautiful chilly day.
naturenotesDSCN4543
This is a great time of the year where I live.
naturenotesDSCN4553
It's been nice that the rainy days were warmer and the cooler days have been sunny so far.
naturenotesDSCN4561
There are mostly Canadian Geese and ducks at Shelley Lake.
naturenotesDSCN4572
The gulls that arrive at the end of fall and winter should come soon.
naturenotesDSCN4582
I haven't spotted any heron at the lake recently but they are probably around.
naturenotesDSCN4583
I suspect I'm not seeing the heron because I've been walking on weekends recently when there are more people around the lake.
naturenotesDSCN4596
I used to walk during the week when less people are around and I think that's when I used to spot the heron more.
naturenotesDSCN4601
I need to get into a routine of daily nature walks.

Oh Carver, you've outdone yourself with this post. Such a beautiful Fall you are having .... we didn't get to see much Autumn ourselves this year (our own fault I know) and so I really appreciate sharing yours! Thank you. Every picture is lovely but that one with the red tree filling the whole frame is probably my favorite.

Beautiful scenes Carver… it is fun to see the glorious colors so bold still where you live… many trees are already bare here. I do hope you'll add your voice to the gratitude quilt this year.
