I was very surprised that my kolkwitzia amabilis started blooming this week.
It normally blooms in late April. Although most flowers are a month ahead of schedule this year, I didn't see signs of the kolkwitizia being close to blooming until all of the sudden the buds and flowers appeared.
I particularly love the way they look against the blue sky.
I also like the orange pattern inside the blooms.
It's almost like a little drawing hidden inside the flower.
The shot below is still the kolkwitzia, although it's hard to make out the individual flowers.
It's not in full bloom yet but even at this stage I think the kolkwitzia is making a splash.
Below is my white azalea which is on a corner of my house, and usually blooms after the other azaleas. This year all the azaleas have been very early.
This is one of my favorite azaleas. I have other white ones that are miniatures but I love the large white blossoms on this variety.
The next shot is of my mixed border azaleas that cover the fence next to the gate leading into my back yard.
The next shot is on the other side of the same group of bushes.

Glad that you shared with us your...
...kolkwitzia? I'm glad I don't have to pronounce this. Anyway, the flower is really beautiful and the yellow textures are indeed like some interesting drawing...
God bless you!

Happy Easter, Carver!
As usual, i love to see the colors flickering amongst your beautiful capture of flowers. The blue sky simply paves way and looks so serene.
God bless!
Your Azalias are gorgeous Carver. Great shots!
Happy Easter :)
I've never heard of the kolkwitzia (hope I spelled that right). Thank you for showing us -- what a magical flower -- looks like a secret message inside it...love this. the other beautiful flowers are familiar from Oregon (not here). Lovely post. I hope your Easter was wonderful.
