Nature Notes: April Showers

We have had a lot of April showers which hopefully bodes well for the flowers.

It is common to see Canadian Geese at unexpected places this time of year. This pair was hanging out at my doctor's office parking lot.

The one above was so annoyed by my photographing it that he or she stuck its tongue out at me.

I always like to see the primrose (shot above) return. The swallowtail butterflies are coming back too.

I posted some similar shots of the swallowtail in the azaleas for Today's Flowers but I took so many photographs I thought I'd use a few for nature notes too.

The robins are very active and keep an eye on me from the roof too.

My roses have been beaten down by the rain and wind but a few boughs have straightened up on their own while others are on the ground.

I took the shot below at sunset last night but alas no sun.

I would hate to get too close to that one. We are finally having some April showers, and hopefully May flowers will follow.

Hi Carver, geese seem to adapt to any habitat. LOL! They are everywhere. I love azaleas, the pinks are so pretty. I guess we do need rain but does it have to be so much of it. Great photos, have a great day.

There are some people who behave very similar to that goose in the second photo... They get all annoyed and mad when you're taking pictures at public places, as if it all belonged to them...
God bless you!

LOL - Love that honking-mad goose. Spring is much further along in your neck of the woods. I can almost smell the green, warm breezes in your shots.

Beautiful, Caver. I have only seen a couple of butterflies so far this year. LOVE your photos.

These are beautiful and I love the one with the goose sticking out his tongue. We were driving down one of the quiet roads around here - very rare to get a quiet road around here - and fortunately you can't go very fast because it's a winding road. As we came around a bend there was a goose in the middle blocking our path. We stopped but edged forward a little bit, and the brave little thing stuck his tongue out and slowly, every so slowly got out of the way. We figured he/she had a nest close by somewhere.
