Nature Notes: April blues and grays

All of the shots in this post were taken in my yard over the past 7 days.

Although the title mentions gray, the photographs are going to emphasize blue.

We've had stormy days and rain as well as clear blue days but I've taken more photographs on the sunny days. The pecan tree above is starting to show it's leaves.

I forget the name of these little flowers above but I'm always happy to see them return in the spring.
natnrs6095
I also enjoy the rosemary blooms in the spring although I grow it to cook with.

The doves are nesting in my garden and they are starting to get pretty wild when I'm in my back yard. This one flew up from it's nest to keep an eye on me.
natnotdowz5837
I love to stand under the dogwood trees and look up at the sky.
natnoteazbn5839
This time of year my wild yard has enough blooms to obscure the mess.
natnotdogw5847
I don't know what kind of cherry trees I have because they were all originally volunteers. I have many like the one below that have grown to maturity.
natnotchr5866
I love the way some of my azaleas are reaching up for the oak limbs.
natnotazlok6173
I guess I'll leave you with one last shot. I seem to have emphasized azaleas and dogwoods but they are putting on quite the show.

I love all these lovely flowers in bloom in your area. Wonderful! I can hardly wait to be able to post blooming photos like that. :)

Carve, now that is one tree I know well, the Prunus padus or choke cherry with it's heady perfume.
What a wonderful burst of colour! I too adore the delicate dogwoods against the blue sky.
The great attraction of a 'wild' garden is that the birds and wild-life like sharing your habitat.

What a great explosion of Spring colours!
I especially love the two shots with the massive red and white contrasts!

Oh Carver! I am so glad that you have been out and about for such a glorious Spring. We are mostly done with it here in FL. It is pretty, but yours is the Spring that I cherish the most. I get homesick for it, to be sure. Fall is a little worse. Summer? Well, doesn't matter 'cos hot is hot.
Love you, k.

LOVELIEST of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride
Wearing white for Eastertide.
