Photohunters: Caged

Several families in my neighborhood keep caged chickens in their back yard.
phancgchk6178
They are fun to watch and I had photographs I took last year of the chickens and their cage.

My neighbor held out her hand to get the chickens to come towards her so I could photograph them.

It was funny how they walked past feeders full of food and approached the empty hand.

Although chickens are allowed in residential areas in my city, roosters are not allowed. I think the chicken below is hysterical looking. She probably thinks I look funny too.

Well...they have never complained about it! :)

Great set of photos! Looks like those chickens have a deluxe cage set-up with room to roam. That last chicken looks so funny and cute.

Have a great weekend.

We had two hens when I was growing up, they were like pets actually but they did lay eggs.

Great photos Carver. Happy weekend to you.

what cute chickens. I used to keep chickens when I lived in Malawi. Some people keep bantams in the centre of Edinburgh...

Wonderful shots of all those chickens. No one wants to hear the roosters crow so early in the morning. We have chickens that have free range for now.

Are they kept to be eaten? I hardly see any live chickens in Singapore due to the bird flu scare.

Chickens always look startled! Excellent choices.

Thanks to everyone for visiting. To answer the question about whether they are kept to eat, they provide eggs. They are far too much pets to be eaten.

That chicken looks like she's had a bad day! Too funny.

They look great, but I'll bet they are noisy.

They are quite cute and great expressions. Urban chickens are getting to be popular here too. The last one would be fun to have around.
