We've been having a cold snap and I've gotten into this routine of hearing the birds remind me that I need to thaw out the bird baths and out I go.
On Thursday I went to a big effort to get some nice warm fresh water out and it wasn't easy because it took a while to thaw and remove the ice. I couldn't understand why there weren't any birds taking advantage of the bird bath like they have done each time I've thawed it.
I looked around and spotted my neighbor's cat crouched in a dry spot on the deck. I walked out and said, you are NOT funny, I am NOT amused, go home RIGHT now. The cat just stared at me so I took its picture and then started clapping my hands. The cat left and the birds returned.
