Nature Notes: Close-up month

I tend to mostly post close-up shots of flowers and trees in March because the changes are gradual as we move into the growing and blooming season.
Photobucket
I was excited to see my first white camelia blossom but it's still mostly buds if I move back for a shot.
Photobucket
I've been posting a lot of close-up shots of my daffodils because only the very earliest ones are blooming.
Photobucket
If I move back for a wider shot it's obvious that this is still very early spring.
Photobucket
For nature notes I thought it would be a good idea to show both close-ups and wider shots to see what is going on in my garden.
Photobucket
I like the idea of being able to look back on nature notes and compare years and seasons but it's not a very thorough look if I only focus in and never focus out for a bigger view.
Photobucket
I finally cleared away a lot of the dead winter refuse to get ready for the new.
Photobucket
I still have a lot of work to do. I need to pull up honeysuckle and ivy in spots that will choke out new flowers.
Photobucket
The roses won't be budding or blooming for quite some time but it's fun seeing them sporting new growth.
Photobucket
I am looking forward to tulips, iris, lilies, cone flower, black eyed susan and so many flowers to re-emerge and fill in the bare areas.
Photobucket
When I look up and out in some directions, I am greeted with a sky full of flower buds.
Photobucket
If I turn my head I can see part of the sky is still in its stark winter mode.
Photobucket
The periwinkle covering my front garden is starting to bloom and a few lilies and iris are emerging as tiny shoots. Surprised the ferns aren't coming back yet.
Photobucket
Robin redbreast is throwing out it's chest to show off it's colors.

So refreshing to see signs of spring. Your photos always make me smile. I love that robin, too.

These are wonderful photos. I have never seen a daffodil here quite like your beautiful deep orange one with the white outer petals. Do you know the name of it?

It's interesting to see how much further ahead the season is in North Carolina than here in Ontario! Daffodils, WOW!

Love the daffodils, ours are just starting to pop out of the ground. Your yard must look wonderful in the summer.

I enjoy your Nature Notes posts Carver.. it is what I intended the meme to be.... You have such a great yard for gardening and you've made the most of it.. Love the robin. I don't think any bird loves a bird bath as much as a robin...Michelle

Spring has really sprung for you. I find myself taking close-ups in early spring, too. Daffodils already! I had some crocuses in front yesterday; today I pointed out to my husband how they had been chewed, probably by deer in the middle of the night.
