The photohunters theme is broken. There is a broken branch hanging out of the gutter in the shot below which almost looks like it's still attached to the tree.
I have loads of broken branches in my yard, especially after the strong winds we've had lately.
Sometimes broken branches are incorporated into my garden.
I also incorporate broken shells into my garden which I bring home from trips to the beach.
I have lots of broken tiles and granite which were left over from building projects which I use for edging in my garden. A friend told me about a pile of materials like the ones below that I could take and I loaded up my car with them years ago.
All of the shots above were ones I took this week. The last shot is from May of 2009 because I'm ready for some spring visuals. That flower bed is surrounded by broken tiles, broken granite, and stepping stones which aren't broken yet.
For more broken photohunters, please visit the home of the hunt where participants post starting Saturday.
I just had to share Carver that looking at the theme this week and then seeing your first photo made me break out in song "Morning has broken, like the first morning Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird Praise for the singing, praise for the morning Praise for the springing fresh from the word Have a great day!
Good sequence of shots. I hope the winterstorms are over now. It´s always sad to loose a tree in the garden. I haven´t been able to walk around and check my garden due to the thick layer of snow. Tonight a new snowstorm will arrive. Let´s hope the winter soon is over! I wish you a great weekend.
Wonderful photos for this theme Carver. I took the lazy way out and searched the archives as I have been sick for two weeks. Better now. :) Happy weekend to you Carver
Love all the broken but beautiful things in your garden. That first sky shot is stunning! Thanks too for the spring visuals - can't get here soon enough for me.
Have a nice weekend! Hope the snow isn't too much.
I had to think long and hard to come up with material for this week's Photo Hunt. Am not sure whether that's the case for you since on the one hand, all your broken subjects are so close to home but on the other, it does seem like you put a lot of thought -- like usual -- into your entry. :)
The second shot is really amazing, great choice for this theme! Also that first shot is very romantic, fits Valentine's date! ;) Enjoy your weekend dear friend! Hugs Léia
I love how nature heals itself, despite all the broken things in nature it is still full of beauty :)
Your post reminds me that I should go and add something to my own post. My original post this week is actually about a broken heart, but my son broke his arm recently so I need to add in a photo of his xrays!
hey, great ways of recycling! bet ya didnt thinnk of that. I am waiting for spring here in FL too! believe it or not! broken branches like that fasciinate me I watch every day to wait for their fall, and wonder whta holds them up still

Ha - I like that little iron/steel/metal critter climbing out of the earth!
Turning broken in beautiful in a garden. Very creative.
You have a cool garden. It has all the right kinds of broken things.
I see you have a natural garden. What did you do with the broken branch?
Nice selections for theme.
