Weekend Snapshot: Number 63

I had intended to rake leaves this weekend, but since it was stormy until Sunday I enjoyed looking at the leaves instead. It's a good thing that I love the leaves because I sure have a lot of them. I'm glad we got some rain because the dusty leaves give me a headache but once they are wet I can enjoy them.As much as I like leaves, I also like the way bare limbs look against the sky. I think in general I like change. That's part of why I would have trouble living somewhere that didn't have four seasons. One of the sillier things I did this weekend was to try and photograph leaves falling through the sky. Easier said than done because when they fall in front of branches and other background, they don't show up. The trick is to follow a leaf against bare sky. It was raining when I photographed the sunset above, but I had an umbrella over my camera. The sun is out today so maybe I'll try and shift the leaves to surround bushes and bulbs that need a blanket for the winter.

On Monday you can find other weekend snapshots at the Home of WS.

Beautiful shots Carver. Wow look at all those leaves. I'm afraid of what our yard might look like right about now in Washington. Hoping son #2 is raking once in a while :0)

wow, these are wonderful shots!
the sunset is spectacular and the bare limbs look like a delicate lace against the sky...

i've been trying to capture falling leaves before but with little success (actually, none whatsoever) so well done on that one!

What I like about your posts is that you talk about the process of trying to shoot the photos - what is it you're trying to capture and the difficulties in doing so. That gives me more information about how hard it really is to get those great shots! So, thank you, Carver. I hope you're having a great day!

I like the shot of the bare leaves :)
Makes the sky look very interesting...so I guess you'll have to find time to rake the leaves soon :P

You make grey look beautiful. We had some snow and will be getting more. You had mentioned about losing power and a generator. We have to get one for this house as I sometimes need a nebulizer or oxygen so we need one that ties right into our gas line and will run most of the house. Big bucks though...

Beautiful all! Too hard to rate them as first or second. I will try to follow a falling leaf, I am quite motivated now.

i tried doing that, taking a picture of a fallen leaf but too fast for me, so i just took while they are still on the tree. =) great shots carver. =)

Nice series of shots. I really like the one of the bare branches against the sky. They look like an ornate design.

Great shots! I love the leaf in silhouette against the cloud-filled sky. Striking.

trying to capture a falling leaf- sounds like I would try -

love all the shots, but especially the first one- I do miss the fall season with the crisp air and the colors, however that is the price I pay for being able to wear shorts about 300 days a year.

Wow you must have loads of time on your hands to try and shoot leaves falling!
