Dona Nobis Pacem

You can click inside the photograph above, if you want to enlarge my peace globe. Blogblast for peace was started by Mimi and you can visit Mimi Writes to find other peace globes. As always a big thank you to Mimi for starting and continuing to host blogblast for peace.

I am a, soon to be, 51 year old woman; born on veteran's day in 1957; I became a mother in 1985; I am a North Carolinian; I am an American; I am a member of the Human Family. We share this planet with a vast array of other species that are often threatened by our actions and we also threaten our own species. I know I'm stating the obvious but sometimes it seems like we as humans ignore the obvious. My hope is that we don't run out of chances to learn to live together as part of a human family, and as part of a wider family of life on earth. We have one beautiful planet and I believe that we have to preserve it because the alternative is that we simply don't care for the future generations of any species including our own. War and greed are both very bad for the environment. Peace Please!

i agree. war and greed has led many people to destroy the environment. in our country, i should say that poverty also led to the destruction of our environment.

A lovely post, the sentiments are perfect in fact.

I love many quotes from Buddha but that one has to be one of my favourites.

Excellent post and I really enjoyed your Peace Globe. Too often when we think of peace we limit ourselves to consideration of human interaction. Thank you for pointing out that we also need to be at peace with nature if we are to survive.

Beautiful peace globe and the pics (I didn't enlarge all). I love the message. It scares me to death to think that one day when I'm gone, my son might be thirsty and not have drinking water on the globe. I am careful while using all resources.
