Today's Flowers: Drive by flower shooting
Last Sunday I managed to get a fair amount of wildflower shots on the road since I wasn't driving.
I wish the lighting had been better because it was hard to work around the reflections through the windows to get decent shots.
At some places the wildflowers formed carpets on the side of the road.
As we got closer to the mountains the flowers were becoming more sparse but the trees were more colorful.
In central NC where I live we haven't had a hard freeze yet. Blowing Rock where we were heading had already had its first unusually early light snow the weekend before we went there.
It was spring like weather when we were in Blowing Rock but it was obvious they'd had some prior cold weather and I had already read about it when I looked in advance for the forecast before our trip.
Some fall flowers around town and in the woods had survived the frost and snow but were much less abundant than on the way there.
The burning bush and fall trees provided plenty of colors and I think of them as Autumn flowers.

Beautiful landscapes, inviting places (including the header pic)!
God bless you!

Many beautiful gardens and flowers of different colors. Thanks for sharing.
Greetings from Roberto,Brazil
When I see the plantings along the road I just want to get out and take shots but there's never anyplace to do that safely. Love the different colors you found!
LOVE your header!
Beautiful and colorful wild flowers.
Until the last couple of photos, it was almost as if you were in Australia or someplace where it is spring! Great wildflowers -- and yes, the beautiful red leaves and Autumn color should qualify as Fall flowers indeed! What a nice drive.
You have some beautiful wildflowers there in NC! Here in the CA foothills, the hillsides are covered in wildflowers only in the springtime; the rest of the year the hills and fields are golden brown. Great shots from the car! I laughed at your title--very clever!
You caught so many! I especially like the last one with the reds and the reflection into the water.
You found some really gorgeous flowers and colorful leaves on your drive. I haven't been to Blowing Rock in years but the area looks just as beautiful as I remembers.
what lovely colours!
oh and thanks for the recipe for green tomatoes....
Isn't that just the best, when some one else is driving and you can shoot things out the window? And so many beautiful things to see, too.
Thanks for the wonderful autumn trip, for your photos are very beautiful!
