Today's Flowers: July flowers

July is the month when crepe myrtle trees begin bursting into bloom in my neck of the woods. I have several in my yard and there are many more all over my neighborhood.

I love crepe myrtle trees and enjoy the different colors they come in.

I like the way some of them have a little hint of yellow in the center of their blossoms.

It's not that noticeable except in the macro or close-up shots but the variety above and below both have the yellow hint.

The wider shots below of the crepe myrtle with the touch of yellow shows how it's not noticeable when viewing the trees as a whole.

I kind of like the way the yellow is a fun surprise when you get closer but not noticeable when viewing the whole tree.

Below is the same crepe myrtle tree in the fourth shot but the lighting is different. I think the fourth shot was taken in the morning and the one below was close to dusk.

The last crepe myrtle shot I'm using is one growing over a sidewalk to form a dainty canopy.

Mimosa tree blooms are another of July's gifts.

I like their wispy flowers that have light strands of color forming little brushes.
01todayflDSCN4812
My rudbeckia (black-eyed susan) is doing fairly well in spite of the heat.

They are such a cheerful bright flower.

Looks like something ate some petals off the coneflower below.

The hibiscus is still doing fairly well although some of the flowers have been burned by the heat.
01toayflDSCN4114
I like the red in the hibiscus below.

The morning glory below looks like something is creating designs while eating.

The little bugs are visible in the center of the hibiscus below.

Next is a morning glory that hasn't been eaten yet.

Beautiful blossoms and flowers, Carver. I love the Crepe Myrtle and the Mimosa trees. I was sorry to see the Mimosa trees do not survive in our yard for some reason. Beautiful photos, have a wonderful Sunday!

Beautiful...so sorry you are so hot. We had a 90 degree day here which is out of the ordinary for us...we also need rain....

Wow, you have lots of beautiful flowers for Todays Flowers. I love Crepe Myrtle too. The trees in your photos are huge and they are certainly blooming profusely. My crepe myrtle is also blooming but it is only a small tree. Love your mimosa tree flowers which look like powder puffs.

The crepe myrtles are so lovely! I like the surprise yellow in the centers of the flower clusters. You ave a gorgeous neighborhood with all the flowering trees.

Gorgeous collection of Crepe Myrtle. My neighbor has a Mimosa tree in full bloom. I get to enjoy it and Hubby doesn't have to clean up after it, which is why we don't have one in our yard. The flowers are beautiful, too, even the bug eaten one. ;)

I am not sure I have seen those trees. I like the different kind and shape of the flowers. Especially the white one. Woudl love to study them more closely.

Hi Carver,
I came down to Virginia (Va.Beach) to visit my daughter and I'm getting to enjoy the Myrtles and Mimosa trees first hand between her yard and her neighbor I can see both. I hope to take some photos this week.
I will be looking to check out that spot of yellow. That is something I've never noticed.
Lovely images of your beautiful blooms!

We traveled up the East Coast last summer (instead of coming back to Oregon like we usually do). We saw our first crepe myrtles -- I took so many pictures of them -- they're so beautiful.

You have so many lovely trees in spite of the drought!

I know everybody including bugs need to eat but I wish they'd leave the blossoms alone. :))
