Today's Flowers: Imaginary Flowers of Winter

No flowers from earth for me to shoot after the cold blast of winter but there are lots of imaginary ones. Jack Frost painted starflowers on my windshield.

I think the frozen lake looks like a field of tiny white wildflowers at certain spots.

The Christmas balls in the tree appear to be sticking around to provide colorful flowers for cold January days.

The dried fruit of the sweet gum tree below are more winter flowers. At least they are in my imagination which can turn fruit, frost, and frozen flights of fancy into flowers.

The tiny buds on a bush below may be the closest to flowers in reality but I'll be surprised if they can actually survive for the remaining months of winter.

I love your idea of imaginary flowers. Clever, Carver!

The frost stars are delightful.

Oh I wish sweet gum trees grew in my part of Ontario. (I think they do in the most southerly parts of my province.)

Your windshield stars are wonderful! I am enjoying your seed balls also - is that from a sycamore? I think I have the same buds in the front of my house.

Those leaves are like stars. I didn't know those balls were from sweet gum trees. Now I know! Great post.

Isn't the last shot Peris japonica? You may be surprised how tough a little customer it is!

There is plenty to admire in the wintry garden; The Christmas balls look pretty on the bare branches.

You really make me wish for the cold right now.
