Birds and Such

You may have to click inside and enlarge the photograph above to see the bird very well. I was struck by the fact that the blossom above the little bird was larger than the bird was. When the bird took off its wings almost looked like extensions of the branches to me. The shot below is of a hawk who circles over my neighbor's chicken coop. Several of my neighbors have chickens for fresh eggs. Chickens are allowed in the city limits as long as you don't have a rooster.
The little bird below looks like it's playing with its shadow. It stared at its shadow a long time.
This time of year it becomes easier to photograph the birds as they are out and about but I wish I was better at it.When I shot the bird above, I was trying to get another bird that was on the ice which I had removed from the bird bath. The ice bird flew off as I took the picture.
I was trying to photograph a bird on the branch of the tree on the left, in the picture above but I wasn't fast enough. The bird on the branch below looks like it's sliding off. Good thing it can fly.I guess I'll end with a little spring time blooming in the winter. Many of the daffodils that bloomed too early are already zapped by the cold but a few have revived.
We have hard freezes through the mid to later part of April but it's fun to see the early flowers, even if short lived.

I think you have some wonderful photos. For me, the birdy stuff is about trying to capture how I felt watching them and you did that. I asked a bird photographer how he got one particular shot and he answered that he was there for 3 hours with a tripod. Not my idea of a fun day...Michelle

piccing birds is not as easy as it may seem. we have great tits and chaffinches in the city park that will take seeds from the hand no problem. but the moment they see a camera they simply disappear into the copse.
nice photos!

Great bird pictures. We now have a new layer of snow so we can forget flowers for now. I'm glad your posting some early ones.

I love your flower and bird pictures. Interesting that in your city chickens are allowed. I live outside city limits, but we still can't keep any chickens.
