Photohunt: Self

The photohunt theme is self. Most of the pictures of myself which I've used for photohunt themes have been old ones. Therefore, I decided to do a very recent self portrait and show you what my fifty year old self looks like in May of 2008. I ain't broke but I'm badly bent. Just kidding, I stole the italic line from an old song.
I am probably most comfortable hiding behind the camera like I'm doing in the shot above. As visitors to my blog probably know, I like the take photographs. Therefore having a shot of me taking pictures seems to make sense in terms of this self portrait. I took the shot above outside a doctor's office. I find it relaxing to take my camera with me to doctor's appointments and grab a few photo ops as they come up, usually outside. The second shot is of me in my garden last weekend. I used the time release and set my camera on a small ladder for the outdoor shots. I love to be outdoors in my garden so that is a part of my self portrait. My garden is a bit on the wild side which suits me most of the time. I often mention my secret garden and as you can see in the shot above, I have privacy screening in the form of overgrown bushes. The last shot shows me in my garden drinking coffee with a raincoat over my nightgown which is pretty typical of me. I love coffee and I often go outside before I get dressed but I don't want to scare the meter readers so I try to remember to put something on over my nightgown. Unfortunately, my gas meter is within the borders of my secret garden, and if I am outside déshabillé, I run the risk of frightening the meter readers who run from yard to yard. I guess that's it for my self portrait and it's about time for me to get dressed.

Carver,
Love the self-portraits - and using the line "I aint' broke, but I'm badly bent". Sometimes I feel that way! Great shots!

Gee, I was first to add my name to Mr. Linky! I love your line about being bent but not broke. I feel the same way most of the time. I hope you come on over to see me "through the ages."

Hi Friend! There you are... I love the self portraits! Especially the one with the coffee cup.
And now Clever Carver, you are increasing my vocabulary. I had to look up 'deshabille'.
I am up a word today, even if my software won't allow me to type fancy French things like the accent aigu. : )
I think it is a fine thing to be bent...it means that you are flexible and enduring.
I pick up my Kahlua (Argh, minus the accent) and cream to toast my Buddy.
TGIF!
Love, K.

It is a toss up whether it is worse to be old and bent or young and broke.

I enjoyed your pictures! I am 50, too! In fact, I clicked around on some of the other participants pictures to see what everyone else was doing, and so many of the other 50-or-so photo hunters posted their pictures I took courage to do the same. :)

I love your photos but it's wonderful to see the lovely face behind the pictures. Thank you for sharing your sweet smile.

For some reason, had thought you would have curly hair! OTOH, correctly envisioned you as a wearer of glasses... ;b

Hey wonderful you :-) What a great reflection, I didn't see that it was a first. And so lush green!

Yez, morning coffee outside is the best. We mostly do that when at our summer paradise island. It happens occasionally at home too, but it's not the same in an apartment block...

So that's why the meter readers are running so! *giggles*

I love all of them but my favorite is the last one with the coffee--coffee is good, especially outdoors.

That's a reflection shot, isn't it? Great shot-- well I like them all, but I'm partial to the last with the great big smile.

Carver said...

Thanks again to everyone for visiting and yes the first shot is a reflection of me in the glass of the office building.

Badly bent? Noooooo.... Love the last shot where you're holding a cup of coffee by the garde (and with your nightgown under a coat!).

Patricia said...

Those are fantastic! The last one is my favorite - maybe because it could be me sans the raincoat. We live on just enough acreage that I can usually venture out in the mornings with my coffee in my jammies.
