Photohunt: Free

The photohunt theme this week is free. At first I was stumped so I went to the dictionary. That gave me the idea of the free end of a rope. Looking through old photographs I found this old shot of my daughter helping her grandparents trim their Christmas tree. Here you see her with the free end of the garland trailing behind.
I was reminded while looking through old photographs of how freely my daughter used to dance through the house. She even felt free to lose her dress and dance in her slip. In the shot below you can see how free her hair was as it whipped around while she twirled. In the next shot she has one foot firmly on the ground and the free leg is extended.
In the next shot she's a little older but she felt free to wear my boots and scarf , and her Dad's old bicycle pants while she freely danced in the snow in our back yard.
My daughter turns 23 in a few weeks and is in law school. She is interested in human rights and international law. Perusing her flickr site, I was pleased to see that she still on occasion has some fun time and continues to feel free to dance.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and feels free to have some fun, whether it's dancing, sleeping late, or whatever it is that makes you freely content. For those of you who work on the weekend, I hope you have some free time soon.

Photohunters post on Saturday (home of the hunt and where you can find information about participating), here:

As I grew older, I don't feel as free as when I was young. I have to be wary of my image in front of the kids and students.

Work and family matters tied me down too, so I'm not as free to travel.

I want kids and young people to enjoy themselves and be free.

Hi Carver! What an absolutely GREAT montage to your daughter. It was interesting to see her love of dance mature over the ages. And yes, children are so free, I envy them sometimes. *smile*

It's sad that we loose that freedom and innocence when we get older. Wonderful post. Thanks for making me smile today.

also, thanks for posting about Earth Hour... I hadn't heard of it yet, and think it's a wonderful event.

Loved the pictures of your daughter- she did look amazingly free dancing in her slip- and every little girl knows dancing in your slip is so much fun :)

I also liked the one of her in the scarf and dressed in yellow-reminds me of how my parents dressed me to go play in the snow too:)

I am currently teaching dictionary skills to second graders in the library. Your post could be used as a good illustration of multiple meanings of a good word. I chose still another.Be sure to stop by when you have some free time and see.

those free photos were so much fun. I bet your daughter really appreciated having them on your blog ;-)

Thanks for your encouraging words on the virtual colonoscopy. I am less and less trusting of them as the days go by; though if I were you with mention of an appendix when it was missing... now that would throw me on edge for years!!

i have the neurologist on tuesday.

thanks again for your support

Carver said...

Dear J, Good luck with the neurology appointment. I do understand your frustration with the virtual colonoscopy. I think at the very least someone should give you adequate explanations for what it what. Best wishes, Carver
