Last year in pictures, today's garden, scan

I thought it might be fun to pick out a photograph from each month last year and make a 2007 photo collage. If anyone wants to see them better you can click on the collage for an enlargement. I didn't spend very much time on it and I didn't try to pick a representative shot, I just quickly flipped through the photographs and picked one. The top row, left to right, is January 2007 through April 2007; middle row is May 2007 through August 2007, bottom row is September 2007 through December 2007. The bottom right photo in my 2007 collage showed the bird bath water dumped out because it was a solid block of ice. The good part is that while we had some cold nights in December, the salad boxes were doing fine because I covered them during the heat of the day. Looking at my 2007 collage this morning made me think about checking the weather. It was supposed to be above freezing so I didn't cover my boxes but instead it was 10 degrees below freezing this morning. When I checked my boxes today, I did have some losses but some of the lettuce was hanging in there. I wondered who dug up the radish above. I have an easter egg blend of radishes, so called because the colors vary from red, to pink, to purple, to white.
A few minutes ago I took some photographs of a likely candidate for digging in my boxes. The neighborhood cat above is one I've bonded with and mentioned in my blog before. He's on my un-planted boxes which are reserved for peas which don't get planted until later but I suspect he may be who was digging up the radishes. I was kind of glad to see him with his collar and lean body because earlier this month I spotted a cat that has similar coloring on my deck. However, the fat cat didn't have a collar and was about double the size of the lean one. I thought something was seriously wrong for a cat to gain that much weight so good to confirm they are two different cats.
The fat cat stared at me while I photographed him, daring me to open the door. He had a "make my day look" on his face. Or that's what he looks like to me in the photograph above. I mentioned in a post last week that I was having trouble pushing back some thoughts about my health and was pleased that I was able to schedule my annual scan early. I will get a PET/CT scan done in two weeks and hopefully lay my recurrence fears to rest. February 3 will mark 3 years from when my melanoma primary was removed and February 1 is when I'll get the scan. March will be 3 years from when I had the groin lymph node dissection following the sentinel node biopsy which found the node which was positive for melanoma. I'm glad I don't have to wait until March for the scan. I think a clean scan will go along ways towards helping me move onward and forward.

I love that collage. Now I want to make one. Do you have a special program for it Carver? I only have Arc PhotoStudio which came with my camera so I'll have to see if it can do it. Or is it some online freebie?
He is a handsome fat guy, I love his fu man chu beardlike tufts.
Good luck with the scan.

Hi Yolanda, I think the fat cat is distinguished too. He amuses me. Thanks for visiting, Carver

Thanks Jmb, I have a graphics program for work that I use which is pretty expensive but out of curiosity I googled. If you use the search string free photo collage, there are a lot of programs that can be downloaded for free that would probably work just as well. I have Corel Draw on my computer but I wouldn't have it if I hadn't had it for a long time for work. Take care, Carver

Carver,

I just LOVE the cat pics and got such a chuckle when you thought it might be one cat! :) My sister once hooked me up with a friend of hers because we both had orange cats that "looked exactly alike". Well, when we met our cats looked nothing alike - both orange but that was about it. Orange cats are my favorite though - Garfield, Morris...
Praying that your scans will be clear (I know they will) and that you don't experience lots of scanxiety.
Stay Strong
Kathie

Beautiful collage, Carver. I love your photographs. I think you did a wonderful random job, it would be way too hard to choose a representative shot for each month.
Thanks for the technical information as well!! and for your kind comments on my blog :)

Thanks Jessica, I appreciate you visiting.

Hi Kathie, I remember that you are one of my friends who like cats. I'm sure when it's your own cat you know what it looks like much as any other family member and there's no way you'd ever mistake it for someone else's cat with similar coloring but someone like me doesn't have a clue. I was worried about the fat cat not having its collar on, if it were the one I knew was my neighbors. However, it was so much bigger that I feel silly now that I've seen my neighbor's smaller cat again. I'm also not worried about fat cat being a stray. Too well fed for that. Thanks for your well wishes. You are such an inspiration to me in this melanoma battle, Carver

Thanks Mar, I've been thinking about you and hope you are doing well. I miss you when you aren't blogging. Take care, Carver

Hello Carver,
I checked on your blog today and saw some great photos from last year. We have some of those morning glory ones as screen savers and wallpaper on our latop!
I wanted to comment on your take on the word 'skinny' from this last weekend's Photo Hunters. I have lost 5 pounds since November 28th! That is nearly 17% of my body weight...so I am looking kinda svelte for a Beagle. That's what Brian and Kim say. I just think I am hungry. I have been going on at least one 45 minute walk every day since we moved into Tiny Apartment and I love that part of losing weight. What Kim can't understand is why she didn't lost almost 17% of her body weight as she is the one who has been taking me!
And lastly, are those really pictures of C-A-T-S? Well, all creatures are wonderful, but something just comes over me when I see a C-A-T...I just have to howl, bay, bark, whine and chase it. I become mad as a hatter. (And please watch out hanging around c-kitties too. They have a literary basis for being kinda crazy.)
And still, I remain,
A REALLY GOOD DOG.
Love, E
(Notice that I am a much better speller than AbbeyDog.) :)

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.'
-Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
(And I am more well read than she, as well.) E.

Dear EmmaDog,

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I can't believe that you've lost so much weight. I'm jealous. That's great. I'm sorry you had to see the cats when you visited me. To tell you the truth, I get along with most dogs better than I get along with most cats. I've recently realized there are a few cats that I can bond with on an individual basis. Maybe you'll discover that when you get as old as I am. Give your mom and sister a hug for me. Oh and I love the quote you found. Looks like you take after your Mom in terms of fun comments and the perfect quote. You also spell very well. Love, C
