Photohunters: sports and stuck

Baseball is one of those sports where the players can get stuck in the mud during a downpour.

Next is another shot of the same baseball park in Durham, NC where the weather is slightly less ferocious. This used to be the Durham Bulls baseball park until they got a modern stadium.

Baseball is a fairly popular sport in the U.S. and my neighborhood parks in Raleigh, NC have baseball diamonds. The shots below were taken at the Optimist Park in my neighborhood.

Although the players below aren't likely to be stuck in the mud while playing the sport of baseball, I occasionally see odd things stuck in the fence.

Here is a shot of the full fence around the baseball diamond when no one was playing the sport.

As you can see in the closeup below, a tennis ball was stuck in the baseball diamond fence. Don't ask me why because I don't know the answer. The nearest tennis court is on the other side of the park with a swimming pool in between the tennis part and the baseball part. I seriously doubt a tennis player hit a ball close to 1/2 mile to go over a playground, then jump the cover over the indoor swimming pool, and to finally get stuck in the baseball fence.

These are great! I pooped out and cheated a bit with the themes this week.

I have never been to a baseball match, it is not a popular sports in Singapore. Would love to watch a game at the stadium, I could only watch it on American TV shows or movies. :)

You have to wonder about the tennis ball being stuck so far from 'home'. I have never seen a baseball match. It isn't big in Australia.

My stuck is at http://hindmarsh-island.com/?p=813

Durham Bulls -- is/was that the team of Bull Durham? Really enjoyed watching that movie starring Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon -- but that was years ago! :)

Good combo again as always! You're a champion photo hunter. Big controversy here because the old-style baseball stadium was closed and the team moved to a new one. People say it isn't the same (I'm not enough of a fan to know at that level...we watch the Seattle Mariners -- Major League sometimes.)

Funny how when I visit blogs to see how they did 'stuck' I remember other shots that I had! The 'stuck in the fence' is a great shot for this week's theme. I once saw an art installation where the entire image was made of things stuck in one of those chain link fences. It was amazing!

Have a super weekend.

Thanks for visiting. To answer the question, the movie Bull Durham was shot at the old Durham Bulls ballpark I photographed in the first 2 shots of this post, and yes the movie is about the Durham Bulls.

Hi Carver, wonderful photo collection. That's so cool to see the Bull Durham stadium. I also enjoyed that movie a lot. That would've been a spectacular shot for that tennis ball to land there from the tennis courts. :)

Have a wonderful weekend.

MMMM. I know a tennis ball that is stuck at our local auction barn at the fairgrounds.
Mine is up and the coffee is on.

Great story and photos for the themes. I was expecting to see something odd or dirty stuck in the fence and was relieved it was just a tennis ball. Our entry for "stuck" is: cats getting stuck in a different way.

Nicely done for the theme. Don't really understand baseball. Loved the last pic - perfect for the theme.
