Nature Notes: Changes all around

My dogwood trees are starting to change colors slowly but surely.

They are always well ahead of the other trees. My Cleyera japonica bush is beginning to have some fall color.

I love the way its berries on the same bush as the one above are bursting out of their covering.

The outer cover almost looks like bread crumbs dropping.

The male cardinal has a leaf on it that almost matches his feathers.

I don't remember what leaf I photographed below.

The male rufous-sided towhee is a gate guard.

I don't know what kind of insect the fellow below is but I thought he was interesting.

So lovely to see the changing colours on the leaves and also the "breadcrumbs". Always enjoy seeing your bird photos. The last insect looks like a brown grasshopper.

Looks like Fall is well on the way...I've never seen anything like that leaf with the crumbs.

Fall with its colorful foliage is one of the best times for nature photography. And you're good at taking photographs, Carver.

Cheers!

I really like that breadcrumb quality on the seeds. I don't think I've ever seen that plant - or, for that matter, that towhee. It's always fun to learn something new. Thanks for sharing!

Great shots, Carver! I love dogwoods so much....I think they are especially lovely in the fall when the leaves turn and the red berries show. Interesting shot of the covering scaling off the berries! Love the birds too.
