Photohunters: Old and Loud

I enjoy the challenge of trying to combine the two photohunt themes each week.
PHoldloudDSCN6900
This week I tried to think of something that would qualify as old and loud.
PHoldloudDSCN6906
After my parents died I found a bunch of old deeds, some were over 100 years before my father was born.
PHoldloudDSCN6902
My guess is they are from my father's mother's side of the family although I'm not sure of that.

Clearly these deeds are old but you may well ask why I thought they were loud.

I find the style of handwriting to be very loud. With the exception of calligraphy, most handwriting in the U.S. has toned down a lot from the loud style of these documents full of curlycues and such. I'm not sure if the term serifs only applies to printing but if it applies to handwriting too, the serifs in the second shot scream loudly.

Click for the home of the Old photohunt and/or click here for the home of the Loud photohunt. In a way it's silly to hang on to these old deeds but thanks to photohunt, I finally found a use for them.

What a neat find! And you did a great job of combining themes. I went with just the one this week as I had a very difficult time trying to find a pic in my folders that would have worked with loud.

Happy weekend and happy photo hunting!

When I read your title "old and loud" I thought you were talking about my husband, lol !
At least you can read this not so curly writing, I can't read letter of my grandma or even from my mother when she was a young girl because they are written in gothic writing and I never learned that !

I'd hang onto them too. I think they are very cool. And I like the way you combined the themes - that handwriting IS loud!

They are awesome. Would you consider donating them to your museum?

I love old handwriting. I guess I would say/agree that they are flamboyant though... ;b

Hmmm - perhaps there are all sorts of properties out there with your name on them!

Have a great weekend.

How cool to have those great old documents! And I get what you mean by loud -- that old-style handwriting does just kind of shout 'look at me'. Imagine the time it took to write like that!

(And if I were double-entering those challenges, I could have just posted a self-portrait ;>)!
