Photohunters: Near

Canadian Geese are one of the few members of wildlife that will let you get near enough to photograph them without any zoom.

When it's not possible to get near to a subject it is nice to be able to zoom in for a closer view.

Sometimes it's necessary to zoom in on Canadian Geese because they are reflecting in the water and it's not practical to get near them.

Some of the Canadian geese up here can get pretty mean so I prefer not to get too near them! Happy photo hunting and great pics as always :)

that's cool to know. rarely do i photograph fowls, but now that i know i'd take my chances and snap them at a reasonable distance :)

happy weekend.

Good choice of photos Carver. I have a lot of Canada geese photos too. But as Sue says, watch out if they have goslings, they will chase you away very fiercely.

Happy weekend!

These are all nice photos. Seems like most geese in our area are almost tame (or at least very used to have humans around).

Happy weekend!

Me again....about Harry Potter. I'm lucky I have kids to motivate me. A couple of weekends ago, I took them to see Deathly Hallows Part 1 at the outdoor movies at NCMA....lots of fun! I'd never seen a movie there and it's really a great place.

It was my third time seeing Part 1....I took the nephews to the movie theater twice when it first came out and then to NCMA. While I'm looking forward to seeing Part 2, we aren't going to be able to go the first weekend because the boys will be at camp. I'm kinda relieved to miss the first-weekend crowds!

We had Canadian geese with chicks in a local part recently. No way was I going near them in that circumstance! Great take on the theme

Nice shots and reflections. The goose in the first shot looks as though it is sizing you up!

I've never been near a goose, in fact I keep my distance from chickens..LOL Great Shots for the hunt!

I love spiders for the reason that they are easy to get near to to take photos of.

Generally find birds difficult to take photos of. E.g., on a hike last Sunday, I thrice spied beautiful hawks -- and not all that far away too -- but they just flew by too fast for me to photograph! :S

You kind of have to avoid getting TOO close to Canada Geese unless you come armed with food for them.
