I always go backwards up my driveway for safety sake.
These are old spring shots so you can see why I let my azaleas get so huge, besides being too lazy to prune, I find them quite beautiful in the spring. However, they do make it hard to avoid the neighborhood children so I am always edging out slowly and going backwards up my driveway makes it safer when I leave my driveway going forwards.
To show you something which gives an idea of the scale, below is a shot I took of my daughter in the spring of 2007 standing with her back to the azaleas.

Oh my gosh Carver your azaleas are so beautiful. I didn't know they could grow that big.

Those azaleas are awesome! I find it hard to drive backwards; I also thought this theme was hard - you did great with it!
Wow those are marvellous azaleas Carver. I don't go backwards up my driveway... no driveway!
Our azaleas had grown almost that high at times, especially the ones on the side of the back yard. My husband did a heavy pruning on ours after they bloomed this spring. I can understand why you'd have to back up your driveway. Beautiful !!
They are worth every inch when they bloom in Spring. Good take on the theme. It wasn't easy was it?
Happy weekend to you.

Either way, thank you so much for your writing. Take care and best regards.

Beautiful azaleas (and your daughter is charming)... it would definitelyh be worty backing up the drivway if it means not having to prune those way down. What part of the country are you located? We have azaleas here in the Pacific Northwest, but I've never seen them so huge.
Beautiful shots and wonderful azaleas! Have a great day!
Mariposa's PH!
I like to back into my driveway, too, but not for the same reason. I live on a busy main street. I like your reason better. Beautiful!
Wow, I didn't know azaleas could get so big. Your driveway is glorious, and your daughter is lovely.
