The redbud tree is amongst the first to flower each spring and in the fall it is amongst the first tree to lose its leaves. The first shot is of the redbud tree early this spring (late March 2010). The second shot was taken on Saturday of the same tree (October 2, 2010).
The leaves are almost all gone now, and what is left is the remains of the dried seed pods. I think it's interesting how in some ways the tree looks similar in the spring and fall since the flowers are small and what's left of the dried pods is small.
In the summer the large broad shaped leaves gives the redbud tree a completely different look. Below is a close-up of a redbud tree's leaves in the summer.

What a difference a few months make!
Love the Redbud against the sky!
Outside my window leaves are yellow and falling. I miss the Redbud of spring but I'm looking forward to fall.
What an amazing sight! I don't think I've seen anything like that in my place!
I like very much the picture of the water drops on the leaves, it's beautiful!
God bless you!

Beautiful shots. Redbud is beautiful. I love the last photo with the droplets on it.
Redbuds have such a delicate bloom... very nice! L
These are great pictures of the redbud tree. I love to see them in the spring.
A beautiful comparative post my dear and such a pretty tree.
Very beautiful, my friend. And so sunny!
I think I only know that tree with the pink blossoms.
It's so different with the leaves.
What an amazing change!
Red bud trees are among my favorite in the spring. I have an old one in the back that died and had to be cut down. Soon afterward, a spike came out of the stump and actually bloomed this year.
I had never heard of this...beautiful.. love the water droplets too...
I didn't know redbuds lose their leaves so soon! It's such a gorgeous tree in the spring.
