Nature Notes: Plentiful Wild life and Wild Food

I took a bunch of photographs of this little rabbit while he stayed totally still. I even walked around to get the light better and was ignored.
Photobucket
I think he may have stayed where he was because he had a nice shady spot and it was so hot. The rabbits generally ignore my plants and bulbs because I leave them so many weeds to eat.
Photobucket
Many pictures I take in my garden have insects of some kind although they don't always show up like they do against this flower.
Photobucket
I've come to an arrangement with the birds. I get to eat the blackberries that are lower on the vines and they get the ones reaching to the sky.
Photobucket
The cherries are very popular with the birds and they aren't the kind that people eat.
Photobucket
I guess it's possible they are edible for humans but the cherries on my trees are tiny.
Photobucket
I rarely get a shot of the birds in the birdbath in my front yard because it's not a good spot to get a shot without scaring the birds. I liked the way I caught the reflection of the trees and sky.
Photobucket
I am enjoying the birds as I always do although they've gotten to the time of year where they give me a wake up call at 4:00 am. I can usually go back to sleep but they are very noisy.
Photobucket
I like the way the plumes of the grasses form arches over the flowers.
Photobucket
So far the only yarrow in bloom is the yellow and white yarrow. I'm looking forward to my red yarrow.
Photobucket
I hope that our unseasonably hot June means July will be cooler. Not likely but anything is possible.
Photobucket
So far the plants are surviving the heat because it has been fairly rainy.
Photobucket
The tiger lilies are starting to bloom which is a sure sign that July isn't far away.

Beautiful photos, I love the yarrow and didn't know fluffy grass was called yarrow. But now I do so can I buy that or do I have to sneak into the woods and steal some from the local government?

I am a self-professing ignoramus with a degree in Not Knowing Much, so I say this with a whole buncha humility, but I don't think those are cherries. I hope someone else knows and sets me right.

Thanks for visiting. I mention yarrow in a sentence above the yarrow which may have been confusing. The grass with white plumes is a perennial grass. The yarrow flower heads below the shot with the grass is yarrow which does have feathery leaves. There are so many different varieties of yarrow though it's hard to tell by the leaves but they have the tight blooms. If you google with yarrow there are a lot of sites with the different types.

One more thing, in the shot with yarrow there is a lot of butterfly weed and other plants mixed in.

I love to wake up to birdsong, and I love all your photographs. The reflection is beautifully caught in the birdbath. Always a great learning experience here, and totally enjoyable, thank you :)

I love that you happily share your yard with the wildlife...I love the bunny.. Poor things only means of defense is freezing and hoping you don't see them till they can hop away... Lucky bun to have such good food...Thank you for the very thoughtful comments that you have been sharing Carver..It seems that life should be pretty well figured out by the age of 50..but I guess not...Michelle
