The combination of a wet summer with enough sun for growth has resulted in a jungle in my garden.
I like the lush growth and so do the butterflies, bees, birds, rabbits, and many other inhabitants of my garden. If it wasn't for the heat and mosquitoes, I would have no complaints.
I am fortunate to have shade trees which give me some cooler spots when I want to sit outside. Even as some flowers are getting a little faded, I can see the promise of new ones to come next spring.
The center of the black eyed susan above will have hundreds of seeds.

Now that is what I call a garden! I bet it is a real wildlife haven, as you say. Shade trees and lush undergrowth - sounds like a haven for me, let alone the wildlife! We could do with a little of your heat here in the UK, but not any of those mosquitos thank you - they like the taste of me a little too much...

Bird is right, you do have a perfect wildlife haven Carver. It is very green here too and many,many mosquitoes with all the rain. There will be the concerns about west nile that is carried by a particular kind of mosquito, and one that doesn't need water to reproduce. Thank you for being a loyal member of Nature Notes..
