Weekend Snapshot: number 15

With Christmas right around the corner, I thought I'd post photographs of the decorating I've been doing this week. Below is my advent calendar which tells the story leading up to and including the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.
Pretty early in my decorating efforts, I put a wreath on the front door. I think I may have added too many bows to it but I like a lot of bows.I also have little wreaths on my other doors. Instead of putting greenery on them, I used ribbons and ornaments.
My main tree this year is quite small and is actually 3 saplings that I cut out of my front yard and stuck in a florist cube in a big bowl. It works ok and is a lot easier than dealing with the monster trees I used to cram into my living room for Christmas.
One way I am able to use more of my ornaments than will fit on a small tree is to have some sitting under the tree with the presents.
When I begin putting more presents under the tree some of those guys can sit on top of the presents. Something new I tried this year was hanging some of my ornaments on the window rods and drapes.I am using both of my nativity scenes but I didn't put up the old manger which is getting harder and harder to make stand up. It's old and weathered which is appropriate, but I finessed it this year. The scene on the right side of the photograph is where the manger would go if I used it.

I think the flash which shows up in the display case above almost looks like an ethereal angel, or, the abominable snowman, depending on my mood. All I have to do now is stop decorating. It's funny how after I decided to simplify my Christmas and not have a big tree any more, I find myself doing more and more. I don't have a big tree but I have little scenes in most of the rooms in my house. My den/office has the fireplace so that's where the stockings are awaiting Santa's visit. I think I spot St. Nicholas with a flock of doves. Perhaps he's checking out who needs what in advance of Christmas, and he may decide what I need is to have less belongings, not more.

Great snapshots into your home... my Mom was the same when she didn't put up a tree she compensated with other stuff. Now she has a new grandson to put a tree up for.

Thanks for sharing your Christmas decorations with us. We don't have many decorations up but it's fun to see what everyone else does. :)

I don't participate in this so I probably shouldn't have put my name in Mr. Linky.

Anyway I like your decorations, I haven't even started yet. It is just hubby and me and no visitors over Christmas and he doesn't care so I probably won't bother.

I love your wreaths (and the bows!) and it seems you found the perfect alternative to the big tree! I have a small wooden one to put on the table.
It's fun to see home decorations for Xmas.
I only have a few things out since we are leaving on Saturday and I am busy gathering our skiing stuff.รง

Fun decorations- I always thought of hanging those big Christmas balls from ribbon on my windows and glass doors- never done it yet.
It made me smile that now all you have to do is stop decorating:) guess you are just on a roll!

Thanks again to everyone for visiting. I think I forgot to answer the question about whether I made the Christmas Story Advent Calendar. No, it was store bought when my daughter was still growing up. I don't remember when but I've had it a long time.

Hi, Carver! So sorry that it's only now that I was able to return the favor. I was advised by my gynecologist to rest completely due to threatened abortion. I've even asked my friends to do my paid postings for me since I can't come to the computer because I need to lie in bed for 2 weeks. Anyway, better late than never. I love pictures of things related to Christmas. I so love your ornaments, they are beautiful! Belated Merry Christmas and Advance Happy New Year! :-)
